Crafts seen by UCW members

CENTRALIA
Centralia UCW held their
meeting on Thursday with 21
present. Mrs. Marion Abbott
opened with a poem "Time". The
hymn "Christ the Lord is risen
today" was sung and the scrip-
ture read by Mrs. Aldeen Skinner
from Luke in keeping with
Ascension Day.
Mrs. Marion Abbott gave the
prayer then read a poem on
Mother's 'Wit's end'. "For the
beauty of the earth" was sung.
Mrs. Susan McAllister had
arranged an eye catching, at-
tractive table of her hand crafted
items including decoupage,
macrame, dried flower

all." (toll call, minutes,
treasurer's report were ap-
proved.Twelve visits were made.
The 50th anniversary United
Church spoons are for sale, and
the UCW are getting plates with
the crest on.
A letter was read from Rev.
Ewart Clarke, Scarborough
saying his father Rev. John
Clarke is 50 year's ordained and
on June 1 a special service is
being held in Scarborough's Knob
Hill United Church at which Rev.
J. Clarke is preaching the ser-
vice.

Church on Saturday. The bride is
a niece of Mr. & Mrs. Lobb.
Arlene Newcombe of Drayton
Plains, Michigan visited for a few
days last week with her sister and

John Thompson visited with his
mother, Mrs. Annie 'Thompson in
the hospital in Listowel on
Saturday.

vacationing for two weeks with

Susan Vanl)erSpek favoured
with a solo accompanied by Mrs
Glen Copeland at the piano.
.Mrs. l'I]il Johns introduced the
guest speakers, Mr & Mrs
Donald Pullen of Clinton. They
had an interesting talk and
showed some slides on "Plants
and Plant Families."
\Ins. Allan Kveleigh thanked
the guests for corning.

Mrs. Strahan announced plans
for a bus trip to Kitchener in June
