Visit modern sugar bush
Time has changed many things
since the settlers learned from
the Indians how to make maple
syrup.A few maple woodlots have
been saved from the saw.
Charles Corbett is one of the
largest- producers in this area.
Visitors flocked on Sunday to
Corbett's sugar bush to par-
ticipate in seeing of Canada's
oldest and most delightful
traditions - syrup making.
Older ways of production have
given ways to more modern
methods. A new technique with
plastic tubes criss-crossing on the
snow to an efficient modern oil-
fired evaporator with large
capacity has reduced labour to a
minimum.
