News from
Greenway
By MANUEL CURTS
GREENWAY
Last Friday night the church was
packed
As full as it could be
To join in some good birthday fun
Of the last century.
"How well do you remember"
Was the theme of that event
And those who came will say with
me
They're mighty glad they went.
The artists came from here and
there
All around our town
They did their thing just won' -
The roof almost came down.
And then to top it off, what joy!
I shouldn't tell; but shucks,
When everything was paid and
done
We'd 'cleared' a hundred bucks.
The Ladies Guild right here in
town
Last Wednesday afternoon
Held a euchre and served a lunch
But never had a tune.
On Saturday night in Corbett Hall
The draw for a quilt was made
Mary Hodgins was the lucky one.
We hope the pansies don't fade.
On Sunday morning in our
Church
A man was here to speak
All about the Drug Concerns
And asked for help to seek
An answer to this growing crime
Within our land so fair
Of people "copping" out and then
Realizing their despair.
Ken and Marion Larmer I am
told
On Friday to Blackstock sped
To join in a most happy event.
His brother - he was wed.
Joanne Walper was one of those
In her school class in Parkhill
Who, last weekend made a trip
All the way to Victoriaville.
And Ross Pollock's came up to
see
Relatives here, including his pop.
They live in Ridgetown now. you
know
For its there he is a cop.
Martha and Selbourne English
On towards Sunday's end
Dined with Mona and Gordon
Pollock
Who live right near the Bend.
Cliff and Donna Hallam
Michael and Julie dear,
Came all the way from Clinton
town
To see her parents here.
By the way:
When a man is young and the
winds are high,
He stands on the, corner to watch
the girls skirts fly,
But when he is a bit feeble and
kind of old,
High winds now just leave him
cold.
