News from Lucan churches
.Pentecostal Holiness •
Saturday afternoon members
of the junior girls.' group.
presented a play "The Story of
Easter". The scenes were on
Good Friday as people returned
to their homes, remembering the
various events which had taken
• place during the ministry of
Jesus - The final scene was the
Empty Tomb,' when, the • girls .
sang "Christ The Lord is. Risen
Today".
At Sunday ,School three
puppets were on hand, with
Larry having returned `from
Florida and joining with Lionel
' - and Lucy to tell about his trip.
At the Easter morning service
' Bill Cochrane led in singing, Mrs.
Roy Dykeman and the youth
choir sang two numbers, as well
as Doug Killer and Marlene
Butler singing two duets and
Cathy Hopps singing a solo.

At the evening service, Roger'
Mason led the singing and
Marlene Butler sang a solo. Bill
Cochrane, in the absence of 'Mr.
Brewster who was speaking. in
Toronto, spoke on "Obedience to

Friday evening members of the
Lucan United Church gathered at
the Communion Table in
celebration of the Lord's Supper
using the words from the new
Service Book.'
Craft badges
for Brownies
•
The Brownies have been
meeting regularly each week and
12 .girls were; successful in ear-
ning their "Crafty Badges". The
judging was done by Mrs. Ross
McRoberts. •
The members enjoyed their
visit to the Ice Capades at the
London Gardens and over .the
holidays took another trip to -
London. This time to visit the
Ceriterjial Museum on Queens .
Avenue, to ,see :the display of
"Early Domestic Lighting in
Canada". Following the tour, the'
curator took the girls downstairs
and demonstrated candle dipping
with each member making
, herself a candle.
For lunch the Brownies went to
Mrs. Ted Madden of Etobicoke•
was the guest, soloist.
Sunday morning thechurch
wag full to hear the Easter ,
message given by Rev. Ewart
Madden, this theme being "The
Greatest ... is Love".
The junior and senior choirs,_
under the direction of Paul Kight,
B. Mus., M.A., joined to sing
"Ggod Christian Men, Rejoice
and Sing": The psalm and Lesson
. were read by Alden Walker,
chairman of the Board of
Management.
Flowers in the sanctuary were
plaeed by .Clarence. G. Lewis in.
loving memory of his wife Jennie •
(Raycraft) Lewis. -
Bev •Madden and Maria
Brennan united their voices in
several numbers for the "Gospel
, Sing" Sunday evening,•as well as
leading those present in other old
and new songs, along with Mrs.
Madden. The next gospel sing•
will be held Sunday April 13 at 8
p.ni.
Everyone is invited to hear the
"Bach Cantata - -Out of the Deep
Seniors plan
summer trips
Various destinations were
discussed for the Senior Citizens'
sponsored• bus trip in May. The
one most -favoured was, a short
drive.to Strathroy for one of the
• famous smorgasbord dinners at
the Golf & Country Club. This
- .idea will be• investigated and
• further announcement made
later.

announced the first men's
"coffee break" Monday -morning
had been quite successful, with 14.
gentlemen present. All men of
senior age are invited.
Euchre, was enjoyed • by.
members of the Sunshine Club
with winners: ladies' high, Mrs.
C. Neil; low, Mrs. M. Lamphier;
men's high, Mrs. H. Holmes
playing a man's card; and low,
Albert Armstrong.
The "Busy Buddies" continued
their crafts. Mrs. Neil gave a
humorous reading:. entitled,
"When 1 have Reached 65.
Lunch was provided by Mrs.
Neil, Mrs. H. T. Bond, Sr. and
Mrs. M. H. Hodgins:
McDonalds where they were
given a +tour of the, premises.
They were. permitted to` pack
french fries, were shown various
T.V. McDonald commercials and
pictures of the school to which
McDonald managers go and from
which they graduate with - a
'degree in the malting; of ham -
burgs. The girtswere given a free
lunch, courtesy of McDoinalds.

meeting was annoynoed for May

hostesses. II is.to be held ih Lucan
United Church.
X donation of -S15 was. voted to
purchase books for the Lucan and
District Cooperative Nursery.
School. -Plans were, made for the.
annual bus trip.
Tentative plans we're made for
an "International Tea" to be held
on May :30, conveners to be Mrs.
Robb and Mrs. T. Emery, Sr. -
Mrs. Lorne Barker thanked the
hostess and her assistant,- Mrs.
Wes. AtkinQson and all those who•

• hike out of Ilderton, when they
made camp. fires and cooked
their own lunches. They also
enjoyed- a scavenger hunt and

were found.
