WILLIAM ROHDE THAMES ROAD The March meeting of the United Church Women was held on Monday evening with Mrs. Lorne Passmore as hostess. The theme of the meeting was "Mission Is In Family" and the Call to Worship was given by Mrs. Arnold Cann. Hymn "0 Master Let Me Walk With Thee" was sung. The scripture Corinthians 2 Chapter 13 was read responsively and Mrs. Ross Hodgert led in prayer. Mrs. George Kellett received the offering and Mrs. Floyd Stewart gave the offertory prayer. The devotional and a reading "Failure" was given by Mrs. Stewart. Hymn "Happy The Home When God Is There" was sung. Mrs. Floyd Stewart showed two films "The World of Three" and "Jamie - The story of a Sibling", which showed children and family life. Mrs. Lee Webber opened the business part of the meeting with a poem "Friends". Roll call, minutes, treasurer's report were received. It was decided to visit the shut- ins and older citizens at Easter time. . It was mentioned there is a fashion show at Kirkton- Woodham Community Centre on March 12 at 8 p.m. An invitation was received from Zion ladies to meet with them on April 2 at 8:30 p.m. It was decided to have a bakeless bake sale in March. The meeting closed with the hymn, The Day Thou Gayest Lord Is Ended. Mrs. Webber closed with prayer. Group U. under the leadership of Mrs. Jack Duncan and Mrs. Ross Hodgert and the hostess served lunch. Personals Mrs. Elsie Cann, Mrs. Mary Hodgert, Exeter, Mr. & Mrs. Donald Bray, Robert, Janet and Ruth, Mr. & Mrs. Lorne Passmore and Keith, Mrs. Mabel Rodd were Friday supper guests with Mr. & Mrs. Arnold Cann. Mr. & MTs. Jack Dickins, Mrs. Myrtle Passmore, Exeter, Mr. & Mrs. Robert Joi'Eery, Hurondale, John Metters, St. Marys, Bob Stone, Georgetown were Sunday supper guests with Mr. & Mrs. Gordon Stone. David Ballantyne, Thamesford, is visiting with his grandparents Mr. & Mrs. Lloyd Ballantyne. Mrs. George Kellett, Mrs. Donald Kernick, Mrs. John Pym, Mrs. Floyd Stewart, Mrs. Glen Stewart, Mrs. William Rohde and Mrs. Lee Webber attended the eighth annual meeting of the Huron -Perth Presbyterial United Church Women at Trinity United Church, Listowel, Friday. It was postponed from Wednesday. Mr. & Mrs. Dennis Passmore, Exeter`, visited Sunday with Mr. & Mrs. David Passmore. Karen Kerslake, Winchelsea, visited during the weekend with Mr. & Mrs. William Snow. My college student son and his wife just received their first grades for the year. PHONE 235-1933 EXETER CELEBRATE ANNIVERSARY — Mr. and Mrs. William Snell, James Street, Exeter, celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary Saturday with a family dinner at the Burkley Restaurant. The couple was married in London in 1920 and have lived in Exeter since 1926. They hove five children, Mrs. Jack (Jean) Smith, Greenwood, Nova Scotia; Mrs. Ron (Norma) Caldwell, Dashwood; George, Cer11'ralio and Ray and Jack, Exeter. T -A photo First daffodil day coming for Exeter sorority group The first daffodil day, spon- sored by Zi Gamma Nu chapter of the Exeter Beta Sigma Phi sorority will be held on April 4. It was announced at their Tuesday, March 4 meeting that permission has been received from council to have the day. All proceeds will go to the Canadian Cancer Society. As part of the meeting, a program on Denmark was done by Yvonne Reynolds and Pat Cottrell. They told of some of the history. living conditions. and Mr, & Mrs. Barry Edmonds and family of Flint, Michigan, attended the funeral of Greta Harness and also visited with their uncle. Hector Rowcliffe. Rebekah Lodge has dessert success The Pride of Huron Rebekah Lodge held a successful Dessert Euchre party on Wednesday, February 26. There were 20 tables in play. The prize winners: Mrs. Shirley Cooper, high; Mrs. Vera Pincombe. low; Mrs. Stella Dixon. lone hand; and a floral arrangement was taken home by Mrs. Adeline Ford. For lunch, in keeping with the Danish theme, Danish pastry and lemon snow. a dessert served in Denmark at Christmas time, was served. Anniversary cake UCW decoration Exeter evening UCW met, Monday, March 3 with Unit leader Mrs. Carol Willard in charge of the business program. The table decoration was a large 50th anniversary cake of the uniting of Methodist and Presbyterians in 1925, donated by the rnessangers, decorated with the symbols of the church. With this theme Mrs. Helen Coates assisted by Marion Kerslake, Audrey McDonald, Edith Love • 'put 6n a skit of the true meaning of our church crest. The fish, the cross, the open Bible, the dove the burning bush and the letters ALPHA and OMEGA. The hymn "The Church is One Foundation" was the setting for the film. "Our Heritage" the uniting of the Methodist and Presbyterians in 1925. An open discussion followed with members remembering fainily religious history of that time. New director for nursing at South Huron Hospital South Iluron Hospital has a new director of nursing. Mrs. Charlanne English, R.N., took up those responsibilities on F'ebruary 10. Mrs. English is a graduate of the Sarnia General Hospital school of nursing and a graduate of the University of Western Ontario. Prior to coming to Exeter, Mrs. English worked for six years at the London Psychiatric Hospital, as staff development teacher. Having lived in London for the past eight years, Mrs. English presently lives in London with her husband and 14 year old daughter and 13 year old son. Mrs. English will be in charge of the nursing staff of 28, and will deligate some of the work load to Pledge. ritual adds member :1 pledge ritual was held for Lois Godbolt to welcome her into the membership of the Exeter Alpha Phi sorority.
