*ready soon
Workman are proceeding
slightly ahead of schedule on the
indoor swimming pool at
Vanastra. This project, the first
public year round pool in Huron
County. is intended for use by all
county residents.
The Vanastra ' Parks,
Recreation and Community
Centre Board have indicated that
the facility will be ready for use
on April 1 with 1•ograms com-
niencing April 7. .
Spokesman for the board has
been pleased by the interest of
various schools and clubs in
booking the facility for future
use. A circular describing the
facilities being codstructed has
now been mailed to interested
clubs, schools and recreation
committees in the County.
In :t1arch a detailed program
folder will be mailed to every
household in Huron County,
giving County residents a chance
to register in such programs as:
mom and tot swims. Red Cross
and Royal Lifesaving Courses,
skin diving, scuba diving,
competitive swim teams, and
general family swimming.
As of this writing the walls are
up. the roof on. and the building is
heated. A knotty pine plank
410 ceiling has been installed and six
huge lamps to light the pool have
been put in place giving the in-
terior a bright cheery ap-
pearance. Stand-by lighting has
been installed in the pool area,
change rooms, and hallways for
the safety of occupants in case of
an electrical interruption.
In the next few weeks workmen
will be busy placing ceramic tile
on the walls and pool deck. ap-
plying the stucco finish on the
exterior of the building and
putting a final coat of paint
through out the change rooms,
gymnasium, and pool area. In the
final week prior to opening, the
pool will be refilled with water
and heated to a constant 76
degrees with a room temperature
of 78 degrees for year round
swimming enjoyment.
The computer is a great in-
vention. There are just as many
mistakes as ever but they are
nobody's fault.

Oppose cable company bid
for Clinton rate increase
Bluewater Cable TV which has
started to instal a cable system
for Exeter, Centralia and Huron
Park is being opposed in its
present bid to seek a rate in-
crease for its system in Clinton.
Retired army officer Art
Coombs of Clinton is leading the
opposition, citing inconsistent
quality. as the reason why the
firm should not be given the right
to increase its monthly rate from
$5.00 to $6.00.
Coombs said the rate increase
should be denied on the grounds
of poor quality service and he
asked the Canadian Radio -
Television Commission to in-
vestigate the Bluewater equip-
ment.
Ile told a hearing in Toronto
this week that he has yet to see a
hockey game on Channel 13
Kitchener) without seeing 24
players, four goali.:s, six officials
and two pucks.
"It may be an interesting game
but it's confusing," he said.
Bluewater representative
Bruce Davey admitted the cable
company does have problems
with long distance signals it
attempts to pull in across Lake
Huron from the United States and
with the signal from Hamilton.
Ile said that any time the
distance is over 110 miles there
are distance problems.
However he argued that con-
trary to Mr. Coombs' contention,
the local •stations, Wingham,
London. Global and Kitchener
were "grade A-1" signals.
The company is seeking the $1 -
month increase to provide a
reasonable profit necessary to
expand. Mr. Davey told the
('RTC hearing. and also to
upgrade the community
programming studio at
Holmesville.
Mr. Coombs presented the
