Retired army officer Art Coombs of Clinton is leading the opposition, citing inconsistent quality. as the reason why the firm should not be given the right to increase its monthly rate from $5.00 to $6.00. Coombs said the rate increase should be denied on the grounds of poor quality service and he asked the Canadian Radio - Television Commission to in- vestigate the Bluewater equip- ment. Ile told a hearing in Toronto this week that he has yet to see a hockey game on Channel 13 Kitchener) without seeing 24 players, four goali.:s, six officials and two pucks. "It may be an interesting game but it's confusing," he said. Bluewater representative Bruce Davey admitted the cable company does have problems with long distance signals it attempts to pull in across Lake Huron from the United States and with the signal from Hamilton. Ile said that any time the distance is over 110 miles there are distance problems. However he argued that con- trary to Mr. Coombs' contention, the local •stations, Wingham, London. Global and Kitchener were "grade A-1" signals. The company is seeking the $1 - month increase to provide a reasonable profit necessary to expand. Mr. Davey told the ('RTC hearing. and also to upgrade the community programming studio at Holmesville. Mr. Coombs presented the T OR Start Shopping Here -for Lower Food Bilis!
