Older home owners are a prey for the sharp talking salesmen representing these .companies, says the Chief. Some of the contracts signed by the elderly people are for an exorbitant amount of money, says the chief, and in no way represent a fair cost for the repairs. However if the person signs the contract it is very dif- ficult for the person to refuse. I realize that this warning has been placed in the newspapers in Ontario once or twice a year," states Chief Day, "however there is always some person who falls prey to such sharpies." The Chief warns not to sign a contract if you don't understand the small print. He advises contacting a lawyer first, and comparing costs with a local contractor.
