Obituaries
JOSEPHINE ( BASA)
KORICINA
Josephine (Rasa) Koricina
died on Saturday February 8 in
St. Joseph's Hospital. She was
was the wife of Ambrose
Koricina, mother of Ambrose, of
RR 2 Ailsa Craig, Joseph, of RR 1
Lucan and Magdalene of London.
She was also the sister of Rudolph
Basa of Meriden, Conn., and
Joseph Basa of Czechoslovakia.
She is survived by five grand-
children. Funeral services were
held from the C. Haskett Funeral
Home, Lucan, then to Our Lady
of Mt. Carmel Church, Mt.
Carmel, on Tuesday February 11.
Rev. Father J. Mooney con-
ducted the services, with in.
terment in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
The pallbearers were Gerald
Isaac, Peter Fevery, Louis
'Pascoe, Frank Zubal, Ralph
Deblaemich, and Herman
Steffens.
MARY STEEPER
Mary Steeper, died at Strath -
mere Lodge, Strathroy, on
February 10 in her 85th year. She
was the wife of the late Fredrick
Steeper and mother of Norma
Eloise, (Mrs. Edgar Holland) of
RR 2 Denfield, Willis of Corbett
and Earl of McGillivray Town-
ship. She is also survived by 10
grandchildren and four great
grandchildren. Funeral services
were held from the M. Box and
Son Funeral Home, Parkhill on
Wednesday, February 12. Rev. F.
Dalton officiated, with interment
in Parkhill Cemetery.
LILIAN MABEL SACH
Funeral services for Lilian
Mabel Sach, in her 70th year,
were held on Saturday February
8 from Moir Funeral Home,
Gorrie, Ont. She was the wife of
Rev. George Sach of Strathroy.
The late Mrs. Sach was
predeceased by a daughter,
Elizabeth Mabel Sach and by a
son Ernest William. Services
were held in Gorrie
OLIVE PEARL COCHRANE
Olive Pearl Cochrane died on
Friday January 31 at Alexander
Marine General Hospital,
Goderich. She was formerly of
Exeter, and was in her 89th year.
She was the widow of the late
John Goldie Cochrane and
mother of W. G. Cochrane, QC of
Goderich. Funeral services
were held at the R. C. Dinney
Funeral Home, Main Street
Exeter, on Monday, February 3.
Interment was in Exeter

Crediton, died suddenly at South

February 5 in his 59th year. He
was the husband of Margaret
(Royle), father of Mrs. Richard
(Joan) Bore, Sarnia, and Mrs.
Greg (Kathy) Hodgins, London.
He is also survived by two
brothers, Eric and Sid Buxton,
one sister, Mrs. Ron Clark, all of
England and four grand-
children.Funeral services for the
late Mr. Buxton were held at the
Mt. Pleasant Crematorium,
London, on Saturday February 8.
WINNEFRED PEARL
THOMSON
Winnefred Pearl Thomson died
in South Huron Hospital, Exeter,
on Friday February 7. She was
the wife of Harry B. Thomson of
St. John's Newfoundland, and
mother of Mrs. P. W. Clarke
(Hope) of Greenway. Funeral
services for the late Mrs.
Thomson were held in St. John's
Newfoundland
EDITH MAY FULLER
Edith May (Tedball) Fuller
died at the Alexander Marine and
General Hospital, Goderich on
Wednesday February 5 in her
51st year. She was the wife of
Ronald Fuller of Goderich and of
the late Stuart Hicks, who died in
1962. She was also the mother of
Charlotte (Mrs.. Frank Vine) of
Parkhill, Larry Hicks of RR 2,
Mt. Elgin, Janice Hicks of
Goderich, step -mother of John
Fuller of Goderich. She is also
survived by her father Percy
Tedball of Parkhill, her sister
Eleanore (Mrs. William
Mathers) of Parkhill and Alfred
Tedball of London, and by four
grandchildren. Funeral services
were held from the M. Box and
Son Funeral Home, Parkhill on
Saturday February 8 by Rev.
Fred Ralph.
ANN ELIZABETH PLAYFOOT
Ann Elizabeth "Bessie"
Playfoot (Rush) of Inwood died in
CEE yHospital, Petrolia, on
February 2 in her 86th year. She
was the wife of the late Thomas
Playfoot, mother of Irvin
Playfoot , of Exeter, sister of
Isabelle of Petrolia, and also
survived by two grandchildren
and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services for the late Mrs.
Playfoot were held from the
Black Funeral Home, Alvinston,
on Tuesday, February 4, with
Rev. G. Trigger, Inwood and
Rev. Jake Giebrecht, Shetland
officiating.
Former resident
to hold services
Dave Johnston who resided in
Exeter about ten years ago, is
returning as an ordained
minister of the Pentecostal
Assemblies of Canada, to hold
special evangelestic services in
the Pentecostal Tabernacle.
His group was in Exeter about
two summers ago, during
Sidewalk Sale Days.

MR. AND MRS. RUDLOPH STADE
Zurich area couple
observe anniversary
A very happy and special o -
casion was celebrated . at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Harold
Stade, Zurich on Sunday,
February 9, honoring Mr. and
Mrs. Rudolph Stade on their
Diamond Wedding Anniversary.
Mr. Stade, son of the late
Christian and Catharine Stade,
was born in 1890, in Stephen
Township. He attended Dash-
wood public school and Zion
Lutheran Church.
In 1906, he pursued the trade of
harness making in Parkhill and
opened his own business in Zurich
in 1911. Several years later, in
1918, he purchased the seed and
hardware business of John
Preeter which became Stade and
Weido Hardware. -
The year 1915 was a special
time. Mr. Stade was united in
marriage to Laura E. Steinbach
at her parents' home in Zurich,
by Rev. W.C. Miller. Mrs. Stade
was born on the fourteenth
Concession of Hay Township in
18880 to the late Henry Sr. and
Catharine Steinbach.
Mrs. Stade has been a devoted
member of St. Peter's Lutheran
Church through her participation
in the choir, the Ladies Aid and
the Sunday School.
Mr. and Mrs. Stade have one
son, Harold, who now carries on
his father's business. Four
grandchildren and one great
grand child complete their
family.
Sunday, open house guests
were greeted by grand -daughter
Linda, Mrs. Douglas Stade and
Mrs. Charles Thiel. Tea was
poured during the afternoon by
Miss Inez Yungblut, Mrs. Irene
McClinchey, Mrs. Annie Fink-
beiner and grand -daughter, M>i.
Cheryl Bialkowski.
A highlight of the day was a
telephone call from the eldest

Seniors meet
The Senior Citizens held their
February meeting Wednesday at
the Village Inn Retreat with 18
members and two visitors
present.
The program consisted of
several poems, "The Patchwork
quilt", by Mrs. Josie Love,
"Grandma" by Mrs. Susie
Devine. "Overheard in an or-
chard", by Mrs. Lily Brown.
Several jokes were read by
Mrs. Mary Ravelle. A piano solo,
"Melody of Love", was played by
Mrs. Charles Reeves.
Following this, various games
were played and the Inn staff
served a special Valentine lunch.
Grand Bend area resident dies
Funeral services were held
Saturday for Clayton Oscar
Smith. who passed away at his
residence, on February 6 in his
90th year. He was predeceased by
his wife Susanna (Wilhelm)
Smith, in February, 1973. Mr. &
Mrs. Smith farmed for over 60
years near the Blue Water High-
way north of Grand Bend. Sur-
viving are two sons'Stanley, and
Gordon both at home.
Officiating at the funeral
service at Westlake Funeral
Ilome, Zurich were two of the late
Mr. Smith's nephews. Rev.
Clayton Wilhelm of Dorchester
and Rev. Lloyd Stapleton of
Sarnia. Temporary entombment
with burial later at Emmanuel
United Church cemetery, Zurich.
Pallbearers were Iray Desjar-
dine. Lorne Klopp, Lloyd Klopp,
Alvin Wilhelm, jWalter Moore
and Julian Mantey.

few days last week with her
daughter. Mr. & Mrs. Duncan
McVittie and grandaughter

Mr. & Mrs. Carman Lovie.
Randy, Joanne and Jim. visited
Saturday evening with Mrs.
Lovie's sister and family. Mr. &
Mrs. Wilbert Lewis at Brinsley.
Sunday visitors with Mr. &
Mrs. Jack Ridley were their
niece and nephew Mr. & Mrs.
Frank Philips of Seaforth and
their daughter and family Mrs.
Charles Gibbs, Lana, Lisa and
Charlie of Parkhill.
Mrs. Ira Desjardine left
Sunday by plane for Prince
George B.C. to spend a week with
her daughter. Nancy and son-in-
law, Mr. & Mrs. John Pritchard
and their son, Nathan Drew, who
was born February 4. This is Mr
& Mrs. Desjardines fourth
grandchild. and the first for
John's mother Mrs. Pritchard of
London.
Mrs Max Turnbull is a patient
at South Iluron Hospital, Exeter.
Special music Sunday morning
at the United Church was sup-
plied by Erwin and Buelah Holt
when they sang a duet, "Cleansed
Me". Rev. H. I)obson's sermon
topic was, "Pride goes before a
fall".
