The new couse for 4-H mem-
bers this year is "Let's bake
bread" the club hopes to get
started by the middle of
February.

church in memory of the late
Mrs. Armand German.

Rev. Mary McInally spoke to
the cubs on their Religion and
Life badge, following her talk the
boys took part in a question and
answer period.
Lady Foresters Installed
The installation of officers for
1975 for Court Valentine L1861
Canadian Order of Foresters,
took place on Monday evening
January 27.

In her brief message to the
members Sister Galbraith said
she was pleased to see that the
court had put in a young
president and that she was
looking forward to hearing about
great activities in the. coming
year.
Plans were discussed on how to
celebrate the court's birthday at
the next meeting. It was decided
that it would again be a
smorgasbord supper and each
sister would invite her husband
or a friend and another couple.

Pastoral Charge. Rev. Francis is
also chairman of the London
Conference World Outreach.

bread alone. but by the Word of
(:ode" Rev. Francis entitled his
sermon "Which kind of bread"
and dealt with the concern felt by
the church at the lack of response
to the appeal for support to the

Congratulations to Allison
Brown on winning the Junior
Trophy for the public speaking
contest at South Perth School.
Allison, the daughter of Mr. &
Mrs. Doug Brown is 9 yrs. old, in
Grade 4 and her subject was
"Raccoons."
Later at the Legion Hall in St.
Mary's Allison had to compete
with the intermediate class as
there was not one for juniors,
although she did not place, she
received $5. (as did all who
competed) for her effort.
Michale Brine also of South
Perth School won the top award
at St. Mary's. He also won the
Intermediate Trophy at his
school. Congratulations Michael.
Mrs. H.E. Coxon who recently
celebrated her 93 rd birthday has
entered Sun Haven nursing home
in Lambeth. Before Mrs. Coxon
left, friends and neighbors
presented her with some new
luggage. We wish her well in her
new quarters.
Sympathy is extended to the
family of the late Mrs. Armand
German who passed away at
Strathmere Lodge on Thursday,
January 30. Mrs. German was a
former resident of Granton.
Weekend guests with Mrs. Robt
Rainey were her nieceElaineand
her husband Steven Christman
and their son Graham from
Dundas.

arrived home recently after
spending a month in California
with their daughter and her
husband Mr. & Mrs. Gordon

Mr. & Mrs. Bev. Westman have
returned from a vacation in
Florida.
Mrs. Kop Sr. has returned from
spending Christmas with her
family in Holland.
We are happy to report that
Earle Middleton and Allan Ait-
cheson are home from hospital,
still there . are Mrs. Pete Wallis
and Alton Neil, best wishes for
their recovery.

Late Sunday afternoon Granton
Fire Dept. were called to the
home of Michael Tazier at tenth
concession of Blanshard
Township to extinguish a fire that
had started in a tractor in the
garage.
Mr. Doug Brown, David &
Allison journeyed to Toronto over
the weekend to attend the Boston
vs Maple Leaf hockey game and
to bring Doug's mother-in-law,
Mrs. James Kerr, home after
babysitting her grandchildren
while their parents, Mr. & Mrs.
Jas Kerr Jr. were holidaying in
Hawaii.
Lucan seniors
enjoy bowling
Tuesday afternoon was "a
first" for the Lucan Senior
Citizens Club when 17 of the
members met at the Lanes for an
afternoon of bowling. It was also
"a first" for several, others had
not bowled for many years and a
few were regular bowlers.
Consequently the scores
ranged from a high of 568 for two
games, to a very low score, but
everyone had a good time and
will be back on Tuesday,
February 11. More bowlers will
be welcome.
Lady's birthday
is celebrated
Mrs. Robert Coleman,
daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs.
Thomas Dickens, was born
February 2, 1884, about 6 miles N.
of Lucan on Concession 4.
Although 91 years of age, Mrs.
Coleman enjoys good health and
is able to take care of her own
apartment.
Her daughter and son-in-law,
Mr. & Mrs. W. W. Garrett, of
London, held a family birthday
dinner in her honour last
Saturday. Mrs. Coleman was
showered with many useful gifts
from each member of her family.
Stage shower
for bride -elect
Mrs. Gerald Gilmour, Mrs.
Stanley Flood and Mrs. A. W.
Thompson co -hosted a
miscellaneous shower at the
latter's home on Wednesday
evening, for Jane Lockyer, prior
to her marriage to Bill Cornish,
on February 15, at the Lucan
United Church.
"Bride's Bingo" and several
contests were enjoyed with Mrs.
Wesley Hickson, Mrs. Lloyd
Mason, Mrs. Gary Hayter, Mrs.
James Lockyer and Joan
Lockyer as winners.
The bride elect was assisted by
her sister Joan and Mrs. Flood,
and a "bride's apron" was made
with the bows. Mrs. A. E. Reilly
also assisted Mrs. Thompson
Lions host
Ilderton
The Lucan and District Lions
Club was host on Monday evening
to Deputy District Governor,
Lion Keith Grigg and 25 of his
fellow Lions from Ilderton
District Club.
Peter Baldwin of London was
their guest speaker. He is an
officer of the John Howard
Society and spoke on his work
with that organization.
Two hockey coaches and two
baseball coaches are being sent,
courtesy of the Lions Club, to the
Exeter Sportsman's dinner. The
Exeter Lions Club was given
permission to extend their "arm
chair bingo" to the Lucan Area.
The Lion Region Rally will be
held in Ilderton on April 9.
