Ho Jo's in fourth
Midgets continue winning

Intermediate "C"
The Lucan Ho-Jo's moved into
fourth place in the OHA
Intermediate "C" standings with
a 7-6 victory over Point Edward
Monday. Pt. Edward drew first
blood with the only goal of the
first period but Lucan came
roaring back with six goals in the
second period.
Bob Evans led the Ho-Jo's with
a pair of goals with single
markers going to Rick Daigle,
Bob MacDonald. Tom Hodgins.
Paul Young and Dennis Burt.
The Ho-Jo's took 15 of 23 minor
penalties assessed by the of-
ficials.
Junior "D"
The Irish juniors split a pair of
games over the week. losing to
Belmont and then defeating Port
Stanley.
Wednesday night league
leading Belmont edged Lucan 3-2
to keep its undefeated season in-
tact. Belmont built up a 2-0 lead
only to have Lucan tie the score
before the end of the second
period.
Defenceman Craig Corman
scored the first goal on a
slapshot from the blueline and
Ed Robb followed. backhanding
a loose puck past the Belmont
goalie. Belmont scored the win-
ning goal early in the third. Both
goalies. Kevin Lightfoot of
Lucan and Bob Budden of Bel-
mont turned in strong perfor-
mances
daLucan travelled to Port
Stan eynd edged the home
team 2-1 n a game where the
scoring was confined to the third
period. Ron Funston and Mike
McIntyre scored for Lucan who
outshot the Lions by a wide
margin but were unable to put
the puck past the Port Stanley
goalie.
Midget
The Lucan midgets continued
their winning ways defeating
Dorchester 5-1 in a game played
Friday in Lucan. Jim Benn led
the attack with two goals while
singles went to Rick Freeman.
Cecil Nickles and Gord Moon.
Monday Lucan travelled to
Ilderton and turned a sure loss
into a tie. scoring three goats in
the last four minutes to salvage
the tie. Jim Benn scored a goal
earlier in the game while Gord
Moon accounted for two of the
late game goals and Don
McFalls netted the other.
Bantam
The Lucan bantams split a pair
of games over the week. Friday
night in Lucan the locals
defeated the Dorchester Ban-
tams 5-1. Ron Glenn led Lucan
with .two goals while Martin
Clarke added a goal and three
assists. Martin Duenk and Kevin
Gilmour added the other
markers.
Monday night in Ilderton.
Lucan played perhaps their
worst game of the year and as a
result were shutout by Ilderton 6-
0.
DALEY' S WEEKLY COMMENTS
Slowing down

Activities have slowed down
somewhat around Branch 540.
however this does not mean that
thing k. at a standstill. The
Tuesday night Mixed splitts fs
going great guns and competition
very keen in shuffleboard. crib-
bage. darts and euchre.
There are some dates in the of-
fing and just as soon as more
details are obtained you will be
advised - these -dates will include
the fifth annual childrens snow
vehicle- party. public speaking.
the date of our patron saint who
else but Saint Patrick.
Also in the planning is Branch
540's third annual bowling party
followed by a pot luck'supper.
Just great times for all and sun-
dry. So. keep in touch.
Members of Branch 540. and
not only Branch 540 but members
of all Legion branches are
reminded that their 1975 dues are
now due. So get ye over to the
branch and get this important
Item of business off your mind
and that of the secretary and
membership committee so they
may put- their talents to work on
other important phases of
Legion.
Don't forget Wednesday.
February 12 is absolutely the last
time you will have the opportuni-
ty to enter Branch 540's second
annual cheque draw. There is 52.-
200.00 in prize money up for
grabs. There are still some che-
ques left so hurry -hurry -hurry
before its too late -

Pee -weer
The Lucan pee-wees were
defeated twice over the week.
Friday night the locals were
defeated 4-2 by Dorchester in a
close game. Paul Gilmour and
Paul Wraith accounted for the
Lucan scoring.
Monday the pee-wees travelled
to Ilderton where they suffered a
2-1 defeat. With the score tied 1-
1. Ilderton scored the winning
goal with only 40 seconds
remaining in the game. Paul
Wraith scored the lone Lucan
goal
Atom
-.Saturday afternoon the Lucan---
atoms won their first game of the
year as they upset Dorchester by
a 2-1 score. Steven Glenn and Ed
Hayter scored for Lucan. ,
Luton Lions house league
The Sabres defeated the Aces
in bantam by a 6-2 score with
Colin Wildfong pacing the
winners with two goals. Other
Sabre goals were scored by Dale
Cook. Jim Allison. Kevin Hayes
and Leroy Siddall. Bob Ross and
Bob Toonders were the Aces'
marksmen.
Wednesday night the Sabres
and the Aces played two bantam
teams from Ilderton and
defeated the Ilderton teams by 6-
2 and 7-2 scores.
Pee -wee
One goal was the difference in
all three of the pee -wee games
-as the Bombers defeated the
Raiders 2-1: the Thunderbirds
edged the Lions 3-2 and in the
final game the Barons knocked
off the Blazers 4-3. Paul
VanderBorne proved to be- too
much for the Raiders as he
scored both Bomber goals. Alan
Maslen replied for the Raiders.
Ron Barr paced the Thunder-
birds with two goals while Mike
Nevitt added the single. Ken
Cocquyt and Danny Hodgins
were the Lion marksmen.
The Barons got two goals from
Greg Fisher and singles from
Tod Wade and Jeff VanPraete
while Les Patterson. Roth
VanderHoek and Alex Jones
scored for the Blazers.
ThisThursdaytheHouseLeague
pee -wee all-stars will play the
Legion Pee -Wee team in what
should be a good contest. In atom
play Les Arts led the Wildcats to
a 2-1 victory over the Jets with a
pair of goals while Blaine
Butchart replied for the Jets.
In the other atom game the
Cougars and Bears battled to a 2-
2 tie. Jim Walker scored both
Cougar goals while Ken Avery
and Doug Petitt scored for the
Bears.

Golden anniversary
for Lucan couple
A Christmas family gathering
celebrated the Golden Wedding
Anniversary of Mr. and Mrs.
...Andrew Keogh, Albert Street,
Lucan.
The couple was married
August 27, 1924 at Our Lady of
Mount Carmel Church, Mount
Carmel, Ontario by Father W. T.
Corcoran.
Mrs. Keogh the former
Kathleen Carey is the daughter of
the late Mr. & Mrs. James Carey,
and Mr. Keogh is the son of the
late Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Keogh,
all formerly of the Mount Carmel
area.
They have three daughters and
one son, Mrs. Matthew
(Catherine) Duncan, London;
Mrs. James (Helen) Definney,
Ottawa; Mrs. Ken (Winnifred)
Sheppard and John (Jack)
London. They have nine grand-
children and two great-
grandchildren.

Agriculture and Canadian
Industries was the theme for the
Lucan Women's Institute when
they met on Wednesday af-
ternoon at the home of Mrs. John
Park. Mrs. Glen Haskett was the
program convener and co -
hostess.
The Roll Call "Name a product
we would lack if farmers never
came back" was answered by
many products and gave rise to
discussion.
Mrs. Don O'Neil sent a 4-H
Report which was read by Mrs.
Frank Goring, Convener for
Family and Consumer Affairs.
"Let's Bake Bread" is the next
project and there will be three
clubs, led by Mrs. O'Neil and
Mrs. J. Straatman, Mrs. John
Vanderloo and Miss Pat Mohan
and Mrs. Andy VanGeel will lead
the new group. Training School
will be on Feb. 5-6 in Hyde Park
United Church and the groups
will be notified of the starting
dates for the 3 clubs. For further
information call Mrs. O'Neil at
227-4508. The clubs will be
sponsored by the Institute.
The group agreed to try to
sponsor a Farm Show Princess
and inquiries will be made by
Mrs. Goring into the eligibility of
certain girls of the community.
-Mrs. Haskett directed two
contests which were won by Mrs.
Gordon Hotson and Mrs. Goring,
and as her program, gave a most
interesting and informative
history of the "Stewart Seed
Company" Ailsa Craig.
Lions sponsor
canvass for blind
At the meeting of the Lucan &
District Lions Club on Monday
evening the members decided to
hold a village canvass for the
Canadian National Institute for
the Blind on February 17.
The New Year's Eve Dance
Committee reported a successful
dance. A new member was
enrolled, Brian Jones. RR 2

Omission
The name of Frank Hardy was
omitted from the list of
representatives on the Lucan-
Biddulph Fire Area Board last
week. We are sorry for the
omission.
UC group take Bible course,
lady breaks arm in south
Several members of the Ututed
Church commenced the course at
'anshawe Thursday evening on
"A Basic Introduction to Selected
Words of the Bible". This course
is being sponsored jointly by the
Anglican and United Churches of
the area and Rev. Mary Mcinally
of Granton, is one of the group
leaders.
On Tuesday, January 14, Mr. &
Mrs. Gordon Hotson were en-
tertained by their sons David and
Larry and Mrs. Larry Hotson at
the Latin Quarter, celebrating
their 37th wedding anniversary.
Archdeacon C. W. Foreman,
formerly a resident of Beech
Street, Lucan, who underwent
surgery in Westminster Hospital
two weeks ago is slowly
recovering his health.
Mrs. Isobel McKay of Brant-
ford spent Friday with Mrs.
Percy Wells.
Jamie and Kennon Fischer,
spent Sunday with their grand-
mother, Mrs. Catherine Fischer,
along with Mr. & Mrs. Tom
Thompson and Tommie, Mr. &
Mrs. Larry Rodin and Mr. & Mrs.
Ray Fischer, all of London. Mr. &
Mrs. Donald Hotson, the former a
brother of Mr. Gordon Hotson,
spent the weekend with relatives
in Lucan and Ailsa Craig.
Mr. & Mrs. Franz Dubenyak of
London were Sunday guests with
Mrs. Percy Wells and Monday,
Mrs. Donald Sutherland of
Brinsley was also a guest with
her aunt Mrs. Wells.
Mr. & Mrs. Allen Tindall of
Wiarton spent the weekend with
the latter's parents, Mr. & Mrs.
Cliff Abbott.
CGIT plans
baking sale
The members of the Lucan
C.G.I.T. plan to hold a Bake Sale
on February 8 as a money raising
project. The date of their annual
bus trip. this time to Niagara
Falls. was confirmed as Satur-
day. May 24.
At their meeting on Tuesday
evening they planned the outline
for their C.G.I.T. banners and
taped the C.G.I.T. Hymn.
Mrs. Randy Paul, Leader and
President Gwen Densmore
conducted the opening ceremony
and Janice Burt repeated the
Purpose.
Mrs. Jack Dewey who suffered
a triple fracture of her left arm
when she fell at the home of her
son, Dr. John Dewey, of New
Orleans, is out of hospital and
staying with her son.
Mr. & Mrs. Wm. Fischer of
Komoka spent Tuesday with the
former's mother, Mrs. Catherine
Fischer.

the Middlesex .Presbyterial
U.C.W. Executive meeting
Monday, at Colborne United
Church, where plans were
finalized for the Annual meeting
on February 13 at Metropolitan
United Church.
David Hotson took his mother
and dad, Mr. & Mrs. Gordon
Hotson, and his aunt Mrs. Jack
Darling, to Kitchener last
weekend to the home of his
brother and sister-in-law, Mr. &
Mrs. Dale Hotson, where they all
celebrated the 37th wedding
anniversary of Mr. & Mrs.
Gordon Hotson.
Mrs. M. H. Hodgins was a
weekend guest with her sister,
Miss M. Merle Law, of London.
