enjoys winter picnic
The January meeting of the
Women's Institute was held in the
town hall with a winter picnic, in
pot luck form.
It was opened by singing the
Institute Ode and Grace. Roll call
was " My pet peeve while doing
my grocery shopping", answered
by 10 members and one visitor.
This was the Agriculture and
Canadian Industry meeting and
convener Mrs. Carman Lovie
spoke on the motto "Kindness
like grain, increases with
sowing."
She also read several
newspaper clippings. One about a
young man near Thedford who
makes buckets that are shipped
all over the world. She read ar-
ticles on cereal and skimmed
milk and Canadian government
help to Bangladesh.
She asked, what is expected of
the consumer? We are told one
thing and government does
another. It is proven cheaper to
buy from the producer than the
supermarket. She closed with a
reading "Discussing shopping".
Mrs. Alec Hamilton president
chaired the meeting. In the
business session it was decided to
entertain six other branches in
March, and entertainment and
lunch committees were named.
Groups 1 and 3 plan to sell tickets
on an article and draw for it at
February meeting.
Vestry meeting
The annual vestry meeting was
held Monday evening at the
Anglican Church with Rev. W.
Mills presiding.
A short film was shown at the
opening. Mrs. Dick Taylor was
appointed vestry clerk. Financial

Bantams win three tilts,
ready for busy week
The Exeter bantam "A" club
saw action on three occasions
this week. They won a close 2-1
decision over St. Marys in a
regularly scheduled Shamrock
league contest and scored exhibi-
tion wins over Zurich 15-1 tend
Hensall 10-1.
The bantams faced another
busy week. Last night, Wednes-
day they took on St. Marys again
in the last regular season game,
Friday they travel to Wingham
and Saturday they meet Kincar-
dine as part of Exeter's annual
Minor Hockey Day.
The game against St. Marys
was a close one from start to
finish with the winning goal com-
ing from the stick of Paul Pooley
with only a minute and 24
seconds left to play. Dave Bogart
and Perry Pooley added assists.
The first Exeter goal was
chalked up by Paul Poolev on a
pass from twin brotner Perry in
the first period.
The Exeter youngsters outshot
St. Marys 12-5 in the final session
and 26-19 overall.
In the win over Zurich Paul
Pooley was the top point getter
for the locals with four goals and
the same number of assists.
Brad Taylor and Dave Bogart
each picked up a hat trick while
Darrell Preszcator fired two
successful shots. Getting one
goal each were Derek Regier,
Brian Mercer and Randy Fisher.
While Perry Pooley was un-
able to put the puck into the net
he contributed greatly to the Ex-
eter cause with six assists.
Grant Love fired the only
Zurich goal on a pass from Ivan
Bedard.
The busiest fellow on the ice m
the Exeter-Hensall bantam
game was Steve Beer in goal for
Hensall. Despite allowing 10
goals Beer came up with an out-
standing performance.
Paul Pooley with a four goal
effort was best in the scoring
•erartment for Exeter. Preston
. ing, Perry Pooley and Paul
• a u Gerwen each contributed
two • .1. to complete the scor-
ing
D. Taylor was the only

Glad the T -A is starting an open line column, because
without the help of Star Probe (a similar type column in
a daily paper) I'm certain that I never would have
received a refund from The Franklin Mint, Canada Ltd.
of 70, Galaxy Boulevard, Rexdale, Ontario.
They were very quick at cashing my cheque for
$17.12, for which. I was supposed to receive a set of
religious medallions.
I wrote them several times, (they had no phone
listed) and received no acknowledgment of any kind.
Finally this one-way correspondence got my dander,
and I wrote Star Probe, who, after several months, were
able to get me a refund.
The Franklin Mint wrote that the medallions HAD
been shipped out and were "no doubt, lost or stolen in
the mail."
Good Tuck with your Impact column.
Thank you for your letter and good wishes.
We are pleased that Star Probe was able to be of service
to you, and, hopefully "Impact!" can help some of our own
local readers who find themselves in situations similar to
yours.
We certainly intend to try our best, and perhaps with a
much smaller volume of mail than that of o large daily
newspaper, we can expedite problems o little faster.

HENSALL
My husband is an alcoholic but won't admit it.
I recently watched a T.V. show with Carol Burnett, on
this subject and phoned the London A.A. number being
flashed on the screen.
1 was put in touch with a lady who had been in my
position but her husband has now joined A.A. while she
belongs to Alanon, ( for spouses and relatives of
alcoholics.)
I have attended some of their meetings and have ob-
tained new hope, but it's not always possible for me to
get to London, so was wondering if you could put me in
touch with any other women in the district who may
have a similar problem.
You hove been forwarded the nome and phone number of
a lady who may be able to assist you.
I'm also pleased to inform you, that, o group of Alcoholics
Anonymous hos recently been formed in Exeter. They hold
their meetings in the United Church, at 8 p.m. every Sunday,
and on the FIRST SUNDAY of every month, they hold on open
meeting to which yourself, or onyone interested in the
problem of Alcoholism is welcome to attend. There is, of
course, no charge, and you will be able to ask questions with
the members, and obtain FREE literature on this very serious
illness.
Good luck!

1 am an old age pensioner and I'm fed up with super-
markets that plainly state, 5 items or less at the so call-
ed Express counter, yet most times I've had to stand
behind thoughtless people checking a multitude of
groceries.
I've spoke to the manager but so far it's done no
good.
WE too hove spoken with the manager o/ this particular
store, and he claims that, if he gets too rough with these peo-
ple that apparently can't count, they ore liable to start shop-
ping elsewhere.
He did make us one promise though, that from now on, if
you'll take your purchases directly to him, he'll personally
cosh you out, as, in spite of the fact, that you live alone, and
are not one of his biggest buyers, he values you as a
customer, and wants to make you o happy one.
