Council concerned over
vandalism in the village
The problem of extremely
malicious damage to property in
the village was one of the main
topics of discussion at the
inaugural meeting of Lucan
Council Monday night.
Councillors expressed concern
that youths of the village had
done so much damage in recent
weeks to personal and town
property. The village will un-.
dertake a program of informing
parents of teenagers of the willful
and malicious damage that is
being done by vandals and have
taken steps to make sure that
offenders are prosecuted to the
full extent of the law.
Council resolved to send a
letter to Lucan OPP Chief.
•Sargeant Sid Daley asking that
police keep an even closer watch
and that all efforts be con-
centrated -to apprehend the
vandals.
It also was decided at the
inaugural meeting that Frank
Street be given first priority
under the program of street
'repair for the coning year.
Council decided to engage an
engineer to do a feasibility •and
cost study for Frank Street.
Council hoped that Frank Street,
including' replacing of existing
water mains, leveling, paving,
curbs and sidewalks could be
completed within the year if an
early start is made.
It was also agreed that Market
Street would be given second
priority with a possibility of
starting the digging in 1975 if
sufficient funds . are available
from government subsidies.
Garry McFalls and Harry
Wraith were appointed to the
drain and sewer committee and
Norm Steeper and Larry Hotson
to the streets and roads com-
mittee. Parks will be under the
supervision of Steeper and
