Ruth Knip and Earl MCNat were unit6d in marriage on- Sat urday,- October -8, 1988 at the 'Exeter' Christian 'Reformed Church with Rev. Robert Arbo- gast officiating. The bride is the daughter of Victor * and Julie Knip, Hensall and the groom is a son of Wilson and Norma MCNab, Kerwood. Matron of honour was Mrs. Julia. Dickins and bridesmaids- were Miss Te- resa Knip and Miss Alison-Knip. Flowergirl was Miss Lindsay McNab. The best man was Mr. Paul McNab. -The guests were ushered _by Mr. John Knip and Mr. Dwayne McNab. Mrs. Julie Knip and Mr. Bert Visscher were the duet and the organist was Mrs. Tina Visscher. After a hon- eymoon to Northern Ontario, the .couple is now residing in Hensall. HUGH MORENZ SHIPKA -• I, along with a bus load of Seniors from Grand Bend; Dashwood and area enjoyed the bus trip, on December '20, -.to see the Christmas lights at Sarnia. Leaving Grand Bold at 3 p.m. We arrived in Sarnia at 4 p.m., stopped at the Lambton Mall for a bit of shopping and supper, and a two hour,drive to .see the lights. We first saw the - Blue Water • Bridge, then by the River St. Clair, lights on the American side and lighted boats in harbour, one from •. England. We drove by miles cif-dec- oratcd homes, through the Chemi- • cal valley ablaze with, lights. . The 'most outstanding displays I saw were .Shell Canada, Dow_ Chemical, Polysar and Suncoi. The 'most spectacular lighting was in Sarnia Centennial park. Leaving Sarnia we stopped for a coffee break at John's Restaurant. . Our driver was Peter McNaugh- ton, hostess Nola Love who.led-us in a singalong of Christmas. carols Personals 'Congratulations" to Bonnie and Mike Erickson on the arrival of their chosen daughter Emily Sarah Heather. Christmas Day with Ferman and Leota Snyder were Jim, Judy and Nicholas and Lisa Snyder, Keith and Nancy Snyder Greenway, Ed, Gail and Corey Snyder, Strathroy, Suzanne and Otto_ Plcin, Chrisio- pher and Melissa, Elmira, Esther, Ric and Scott- Storey London; and Leota's sister, Kaletta Mussclman, of Kitchener. Members -of the Pickering family numbering about 55, held their . Christmas dinner at Shipka Com- munity Centre. Relatives came from - London, Parkhill, Forest, Grand Bend and Greenway. Hugh and I attended the "Morenz" Christmas at his sister's, Mrs. Hazel Corbett, in Hensall. Others joining with us were Les and Marorie Adams, Exeter, and Mrs. Blanche Chapman, London. Our son Bill, of London, and a friend spent Christmas week -in Vancouver with his daughter Perse- phone Morenz and her B.C. fami- ly. While there they celebrated her 13th birthday on December 23. • Special guests were her great grandparents,•Fred and Ruby Cald- well, of Bumaby B.C., her grandfa. .cher Julius Nicklom of Calgary, Alberta and other relatives. Exeter. Orltarlo 4 Darcy Rathwell opened with a welcome, followed by Meggin Reid playing "Rockin around the Christmas. Tree" on the piano. The youngest class then sang a song with a little action, "There Was a Little Baby." Valerie Laurie played "Hark the Herald Angels Sing" on the piano. The Rathwell and Stephenson - families -entertained with "Away in the Manger" 'and "Jingle Bells" with their instruments. Kim Taylor played "Good King Wenceslas" on the piano. The primary class told everyone the "Joys of Christmas." Heather Laurie also played the piano. - Brian Webster recited a verse "I took a lick of a Peppermint stick." Raymond Beierling recited Christ- mas "Rap". Mary Ellen Webster favored everyone with playing the piano. The Junior Class then presented a recital on "Christmas is." Michael Stephenson played the 'spoons while his sisters Kara and Lee -Ann danced. • The Laurie family sang "Merry Christmas" in Spanish with their instruments. Raymond Bcierling humoured everyone with a Santa joke. The Senior Class acted out a Dickens Christmas carol skit. The Brass Bunch, who arc the Mount family led by Charlie Kalb- fleisch, entertained with some Christmas Carl music. On behalf of the Varna Sunday School and community .I would like to thank them fortaking the . time to come out and show every- one their talent. We all enjoyed it very much. The entire Sunday School did a number called the Christmas Al- phabet. The younger members held and called out the letters of the alphabet while the older ones called ouf theChristmasmeaning of each letter. Then they all sang Christ- mas Songs accompanied by Mary Ellen Webster on the piano before Santa Claus arrived to hand out gifts to the children. • Rev. Sam Parker thanked Joe Laurie, Sunday School teachers, parents and all the children who put all their time and effort into this concert. - Sunday December 18 was the fourth Sunday of Advent and Heath- • cr Laurie lit the gold candle during the Children:s Sharing and Prayer • time.
