The business was chaired by pres- ident-elect .Roberta Walker. Another letter requested donations for a re -showing of the film; "Feel the Heartbeat" over Canadian na- tional TV, a pro-life program, and the members voted for a $200 dona- tion. The Lioness have collected all the White Gift do- nations of food, clothes and gifts; to be distributed to the needy in the community. Father Beck reported that the new Young People's Group has had 18 to 20 teens out at the last three meetings. Some of these young- sters have volunteered to play musi- cal instruments at the Christmas Eve and Christmas Day celebra- tions. He was also pleased by the turnout for the Christmas choir, about 25 people, and hopes they also come to sing for Easter. The sum of $200 will be sent to Bishop Sherlock for Armenian re- lief. Future dates for 1989 include a. Regional Council meeting on Feb- ruary4, in Seaforth, and a Council fun night in Hesson on February 8. Members will be participating in the Meals on Wheels in February to March for six weeks, and our CWL will be hosting the World Day of Prayer on Friday, March 3. The next meeting will take place - on Monday, February 13, at 8 p.m. with films and a speaker about the Pro Life movement. After the meeting, members and their husbands enjoyed a Christmas party, with music provided by Paul Dietrich and Roberta Walker. There was plenty of food, fun, carol sing- ing and card games' for all. Lioness donate II% Roberta NV'alker GRAND BEND - The Grand Bend Lioness held their Christmas meet- ing at the home- of Lioness Donna Holtman, with a potluck supper. At their business -meeting, the Lioness made a number of donations: to the Lanthton Victorian Order of Nurses; O.!an Transplant International; Survival 'Through Friendship; and to a, local girl_ to help cover her medical expenses. The Lions and Lioness are work- ing together on C'hristrnas Bttskets for the needy in the community, to be delivered on December 24. Dona- tions for this worthy cause have been received from the -United Church, Anglican - and 'Catholic churches, residents of Grand Cove. Estates, the Girl Guides, the Grand Bend Legion, and various individu- als from the arca. - The Lioness would like 10 thank all those groups. -and- individuals who, contributed so generously to make Christmas happier for the less fortunate.. - Thc nest Lioness meeting will be a plant party held at Oakwood inn on January 26, with the installation of new members for 1989. . United Church packs baskets By Roberta Walker GRAND BEND - Thc United Church met last week to pack and deliver more than 30 Christmas Chccr Baskets and gifts to thc sick and shut-ins of the congregation. Thc UCW collect donations of clothes and gifts for the less fortu- nate each year in November. We couldn't do it without you.• May all of you have a Blessed Christmas and a happy, healthy New Ycar. Onc of the highlights of Christ- mas is the school concerts, and this year we saw two, at McCurdy pub- lic and Our Lady of Mount Carmel. The sweet innocence of thc tiny kindergarten children and the lovely carols all stem to conspire to bring a tear to the eye and a song in the heart. There were concerts all last wcck and Christmas came closer to all who attended them. The power of His love is everlasting. As we reflect and remember, Christ's message is forever. We take this joyous occasion to express our thanks to all of you.
