LUCAN - Pieter Schinkleshoek
led the worship in song Sunday
morning. Keith Dance talked about
his past Mission work in St. Vin-
cent, where he used his talents in
building and teachi g, as Jesus said
to do in Mark 16: r5. From a letter
from missionaries, Bob and Carol
Cave in Haiti, he told of a project
to finish a church building there.
Dance discussed the cost of going to
Haiti being close to 5900.
Wilfred Skillings led little chil-
dren Cameron Ross, Matthew
Myles and Kindra Dance' in telling
the Christmas Story, then in sing-
ing Baby Jesus.
Rev. Roger Mason, fjom He-
brews 13:15, talked ait the sacri-
fice of praise. The principle of sacri-
fice to God was instigated in
Genesis when animals were killed
to provide covering for Adam and
Eve. Animals were affeicd as sacri-
fice to atone for sins of the Hebrews
in the Old Testament. All this
• pointed to Jesus' death on the cross
for our redemption from sin. •
First Chronicles 21:21-36 tells
how David had to offer sacrifice to

psalm of praise. Ile feels to shout
and praise will triumph over Satan.
Because God is a great King over
the earth, we can shout praises to
Him. -

CENTRALIA - With Christmas
day falling on Sunday. this year,
e will be no service at the Cen-
tralia *led Church but a point ser-
vice for -both Congregatio1is will be
held at Zion United Church at
10:30:On New Years Day January
1 a joint service for both chul'ches
will be. held at Centralia United at
11:15 a.m.
The senior citizens met in the
Community Centre on Monday af-
ternoon December 12 for their regu-
lar get-together. Card games were
played, and to promote the Spirit of
Christmas all had dinner at Hey -
wood's Restaurant: The welcome
mat awaits yotron Tuesday, Decem-
ber 27 at 2 p.m.
In the evening euchre players
gathered at Neil's School for a•so-
cial evening with prizes going .to
high score Ann Gilmour, Bob
Flynn, lone hands, Dorothy Dar-
ling, Joe Carter, .low. score Mary
Meikle, Tipsy Conlin. Lucky score
Murray Caner. The next party will
be held on Tuesday evening January
29 (note change of day) at 8 p.m.
Saturday evening Mike and Cathy
Cronyn entertained the "Staff of
JCnetchel's Grocery Store, Huron
Park.
Von Overholt accompanied Mr.
and Mrs. Ron Moore to St. Thomas
on Sunday where they were guests
with Von's daughter Pauline and
Brad Tait
Fred Fenton of Stratford spent
Saturday with Clayton and Alice
Kooy, Hurop Park.
Friday evening dinner guests with
Tom and 1 were Helen MacDonald,
Howard, Sandra and Lauralce Mac-
Donald, Joyce Sovereign, Leanne,
Scott and Ferlin. Julie Goos, Harry
and Marian Noels, all of Lucan, Lil
Brindley of London, Jack Dickins,
Exeter, Betty Sutherland, Ilderton,
Howard Dolan, Watford, Jerry. and
Carol Mills of town. Helen and
Carol were celebrating birthdays.
Terry and Judy Morgan were Satur-
day evening visitors with us.

STAFFA - A deep feeling for
Christmas filled the room as Hib-
bert .United Church -Women gath-
• cred in -the Family Life Centre for
their worship service, led by Marga-
ret Kemp assisted by Joan Daynard,
Florence McPhail, Helen Fell and
Bernice Norris.-
The
orris.-The Christmas story was present-
ed in verse and in song with addi-
tional brief readings, affirming the
nearness of Bethlcham town and the
fact that Christmas means accepting
responsibility appropriate music by
Gwen Christie and a Christmas
mail box for the offering furthered
the theme. •
A eye catching display of Christ-
mas candles and candle holders on a
green cloth was displayed artistical-
ly by Vcrlc Mahon. She demonsrat-
ed thc versatility and ingenuity in
using many materials and she espe-
cially emphasized that a candles
purpose was to give light.
Mary F. Dow chaired the busi-
ness portion of thc meeting assisted

all enjoyed Christmas dainties

Christmas with Heather's parents,
Bert and Margaret Daynard and other
family members.

We have been pleased to have so
many programs this Christmas. -
Last week, the Christian Reformed
Church Choir brought 'us some
lovely music. We arc pleased to see
them every month and look forward
to seeing them in thc new year.
Other carollers last wck were the
Thames Road/Elimville Sunday
School children and the Firemen.
The Calvinettes presented their
Christmas program last Thursday
evening. The girls gave several
readings along with singing carols. -
Thank you to all the groups for
bringing us the Spirit of Christ-
mas. We know that this is a busy
time of year for everyone and we
appreciate the time you take to visit
us.
Lastly hut certainly not least was
our monthly Legion Ladies Bingo.
Thanks to the ladies for the potted
plants, balloons and other Christ-
mas goodies. We shall surely enjoy
them during the holiday season.
