EXETER - Newly elected
councillor Ervin Sillery reported
to council Monday night that
Carolyn Bradford of Usborne
;lownship.would represent Exeter
and the townships of Usbornc and
Blansshard fora two year term on
the Ausable-Bayfield Conserva-
tion Atuhority.
Sillery said representatives
from the three municipalities met
December - 15 to interview three
of• six original candidates. The
others interviewed were Gordon
Robinson of Blanshard township
and Exeter cotfncillor Harry Klun-
gel.

- Membership in the Southwest -
cm Ontario io Travel Association at
a cost of S300 for 1989 was re-
newed. The -membership was
originally taken out in 1988 as
part of • the Economic Develop-
ment budget.

Deputy reeve Lossy Fuller ob-'•
jectcd to a recommendation from
the towi's planning advisory that
decisions made following public
hearings be made "in camera"
• Fuller said , " We passed a by -
five years ago that all com-

A motion was received from
the planning committee that the
matter be tabled until the January
11, 1989 nieeting at which time
planner Richard-Zelinka would
have a full- report and legal ad-
vice..
Ben Hoogenboom, a member
of the committee was asked to
pass on council's feeling on the
matter.

On the subject of planning ad-
visory committee meetings, new
councillor Harry Klungel said he
was impressed with the quality 01
members of this group.
Klingel continued, The build-
ers and contractors should be con-
gratulated. They are the movers
and the shakers. i was impressed
with the plan of Gregus construc-
tion to make use of large back-
yards between Marlborough and
Carling streets."
Councillor. Morley Hall said "
• 1 see the light at the end of the
tunnel for our mewling program."
The public works report includ-
ed setting up a committee of Hall,
Hoogenboom , recycling Co-
ordinator George McEwen and
works superintendent Glenn Kells
to prepare a tender form for the re- •
cycling program.
Councillor Dorothy Chapman
said she was impressed with a re-
cent editorial in the London Free
Press which accused -government
of "pushing more costs on us."
Chapman added, " There have
been so many changes in town
and we need more. We need to
look past now and costs to 10
years from now."

A donation of S200 was given
to the Exeter Lioness club to can-
vass for the March_ of Dimes dur-
ing the month of January.

Councillor Dorothy Chapman

action to change the wording in
the town's official plan to allow
local residents to provide bed and
breakfast for visitors and tourists.

Guest speaker was Doris Sinasac,
wife of Rev. R. Sinasac, Dash-
wood, on the theme of "Peace."

Funeral service was held last
Wednesday from McFarlane and
Roberts Funeral home, Lambeth
with interment at Woodhull Cemet-
ery, Kilworth.
Congratulations to Roxanne
Woods, daughter of Wayne and Kar-
en Woods, who graduated from
Carleton University in Ottawa,
with a Bachelor of Arts degree in
Honours in Psychology at .the Fall
Convocation Exercises. She has
been holidaying in the South Pacif-

High School, musical concert in
Exeter last Wednesday .evening.

struments anis singing in the choir

Their Christmas music was a de-
light to hear and the large audience
joined in to sing Christmas carols.

Ken Marchand, Huron Park, had
- four months added to a sentence df
two years less a day he is currently
serving for taking a car belonging
to Ralph Wells for a joy ride.
Alan Clark, Ingersoll, pleaded
guilty to stealing five hams and
seven slabs of bacon; the property
of Darling's IGA, from a truck
parked at the back of the store on
July 28. Clark was not in court to
, hecppr that he must make S150 resti-
`tufion within one month, and pay a
S300 fine within the next four
months. Another man who also
took part in the theft has made resti-
tution of S150.
All charges against Gordon
McDonald resulting from a confron-
tation with police in Exeter on May
28 were withdrawn when McDonald
agreed to a three-year prohibition
under section 101 of the Criminal
Code. This prohibits him from
owning or possessing any firearms,
ammunition or explosive device
during that period.

GRANTON - At St. Thomas
Anglican Church, the Rev. Bever-
ley, Anne Wheeler was in charge of
the fourth Sunday of Advent ser-
vice and the Lessons and Carols.
The children's focus was the light-
ing of the Advent candles by Susan
Acres, Colleen Moore, Lorne Har-
rison and Melanie Beatson.
The seven lessons were read by
Scott Hodgins, Muriel Lewis, Jim
Hodgins, Jeanene French, Melanie
Bcatson, Kenny French and Sylvia
Bcatson, followed by prayers of
thanks over the gifts..
Following the service, the Sun-
day School pupils favored the con-
gregation with an interesting con -
main the church hall and directed
by Linda Hodgins and Deanna
Beatson. Piano instrumentals were
given by Philip Hodgins, Scott
.Hodgins, Jeanenc French, Kenny
'French, Melanie Bcatson and Kay -
leen Roloston followed by two
musical playettes when everyone
took part. An appetizing pot luck
hot dinner was en joy&l.
Rev. Wheeler announced the
Christmas Eve candlelight service
to be held 8:30 p.m. on Saturday,
December 24.
