Women's institute held their Christ-
mas dinner meeting at the Three .
4AAA's Restaurant :at Exeter on
Wednesday. Twenty two members
-and friends answered the roll call,
• "Name a Christmas carol". --
. During the business; donations
were voted to 'The Children's Hos-
pital of Western Ontario" and Com-
munity House. A short skit, several
Christmasreadingsand carol sing-
ing, completed the program:- -

Best Wishes to Clarence Millson
on his 95'ih birthday. Many attended -
his party at Craigholme Nursing
Home Saturday. Clarence was a res-.
ident of Clandeboye for nearly 3()
years before becoming a resident at
Craigholme.
He is enjoying good health and is
very alert and chipper, despite his •
age.
Mrs. Rita Gebel, who was in a
.car accident on December 1 has
been in South Huron Hospital, Ex-
eter with a broken vertebrate, in her -
back . She hopes to get home early
this week. - -
St. James Church held their card
party on Tuesday evening. Prize
winners were: high scores, Marilyn -
Dixon and, Evan Hodgins; lone
hands Mary scoff and Andy Thomp-
son; -low scores Voyle-Jordan and
Wilmer Scott. The next party will
be January 3, 1989.. -

SAINTSBURY - Holy Commun-
ion was observed at 11. a.m. Sun
day. Rev. Beverly Wheeler wel-
comed all the congregation and
guests.
The church dvas'filled with chil-
dren, parents and grandparents and
beautifully decorated with Christ-
mas tree and flowers.
Rev. Wheeler helped Sarah Walk-
erlight the third advent candle and
toltl.the children a story of a little.
girl who loved all God's creatures
and even tried to save a colony of
ants,ficr mother had many aller-
gies, and the child couldn't have -
pets in the home.
Scotty Jefferies read the lessons
and Sheryl Carroll pianist provided
Christmas music. Due to the com-
ing Christmas party, there was no
sermon following the communion
service. All went down to thc par-
ish Hall were the children were
dressed and ready for the Christmas
story.
Lisa and Julie Carroll, Pamela
Greenly and Scotty Jefferies read the
story from the bible and the young-
er scholars pantomimcd the story.
This was well done, they acted out
the word CHRISTMAS printed
with each child repeating a verse
commencing with their letter, all
the little folks added to the enjoy-
ment, endeavoring to remember
• their liribs. .
The Superintendent Hazel Davis
thanked Rcv. Wheeler, Mary Walk-
er, Suzanne Davis and Heather Mac-
Gillivray for their.assistance during
the past year. ' At the close of the
programme Rev. Wheeler presented
Crystal Davis with a gift for perfect

- . Just then "Santa" made his year y
visit to. the 'Sunday: School children.
Santa took his leave amid mach
laughter and excitement and all en-
joyed -a delicious lunch provided by
the ladies of .the congregation. -

A.C.W. meet
Hazel Davis gave her home for
the 4.C.W. Christmas meeting
Thursday -evening. There were 12
members present. Hazel. had her
home decorated and a beautiful
Christmas tree.

opened the meeting witb.all repeat-
ing the members prayer and the
general Thanksgiving prayers for
our prayer partners, absent mem-
bers, church and Sunday School.

and Rose read the meditation. The
•secretary, Mary Jefferies read the ac-
count of 'the November meeting
which was held at the home of Haz-
el Eaton. The treasurer. gave her re- -
port which. included monies raised
from the "Noels" anniversary dinner
and a lunch provided for thc ordina-
tion of Rcv. Wheeler's friend: ----
She also reported thc new roof
completed on the church and paid
for. All enjoyed the draw for new •
secret pals and -the presentation of
gifts from last -years Secret Pals and
their name. A few guessed who
their pal was, but it was fun to re-
veal everyone.
The roll call was answeredwith a
can of food for the, needy.-- Hazel"
Eaton conducted a contest, won by
Margaret Carroll. The • meeting-.
closed with prayer and Hazel Davis

News from Lucan United Church and UCW
LUCAN - The General Meeting.
of the United Church Women held
their Christmas pot luck dinner on
Tuesday evening. Representatives
from local churches and ladies from
Crest Centre and The Villa helped
swell the attendance to over 50.
After a delicious meal and a get
acquainted game, a short play was
presented depicting the story of
Christmas. Taking part were Gwen
Lynn, Dorothy Lankin, Muriel Co-
bleigh, Linda Froats, Sue Rees, Ei-
leen Ruston and Beth Miller.
The U.C.W. are delivering Amar-
ylis plants•to all the shut-ins oL the
church as aremembrance at Christ-
mas. The profits to date, from the
Snowflake Bazaar totals S2115.09.
Many thanks to all that helped.
Prayers were offered for- Jean
Brown, wife of Rev. Keith Brown,
former minister of Lucan United
Church, who on Tuesday was still
-waiting for a liver transplant but
since then has had the long awaited
surgery on Thursday night, Decem-
ber g and is out of Intensive Care
and progressing favourably in the
Transplant Unit of University Hos-
pital.
The Sunday School presented
their annual Christmas concert on
Sunday evening at the Lucan Public
School auditorium. Over 70 chil-
dren participated in the skits, choral
readings, singing and nativity
scene. -

LUCAN - Sunday service at the
Lucan.United Church was well at-
tended. Tom and Eileen Ruston
were greeters. Linda Froats led carol
singing with Marjorie Park as pia-
nist and choir leader. The Don
Coughlin family participated in the
lighting of the Third •Advent
.Candle.
Rev. Peter Lemmer, guest mini-
ster from Dundas St. Centre United
Church, London told the children's
story -'-`A Christmas Present from
God" to a very attentive audience,
including the adults.
Rev. Lemmer chose scripture tak-
en from Malachi 3:1-4 and -Luke
'3:1-6. His message was inspiring
and comforting .to the congregation.
Next Sunday, December 18, guest
minister will be Dr. Douglas Ross,
Executive Secretary of London Con-
ference and former minister of Wes-
ley -Knox United Church. Guest or-
ganist will be Mrs. - Dorothy
Anderson; London. Carol service on
Christmas Eve at 7 p.m. will have
Douglas Barr, of Toronto, as guest
organist. Doug is a fbrmer member
of Lucan United Church. -
December 25, Christmas Day scr-
vice at 10 a.m. will have Rev. John
McKay, chairman of the Middlesex .
