Hay compromises with Zurich
over Authority representation
HAY TOWNSHIP - Township
council has reached a coritprontisc
with the- village of -Zurich over the
selection of its ropresentative on thc
Ausable-Bayfield Conservation Au-
thority board of directors. .
Zurich councillot Hcrb Turkhcim
will represent both the village of
Zurich and Hay Township for the
first two years of the municipal
tcrm, followed by one year of repre-
sentation from township reeve Lio-
nel Wilder. -
The combining of the municipali-
ties' representation follows a call
from the Conservation Authority to
reducethe membership of as board,
At their meeting on Monday De-
cember 5, council also decided 'to
waive the usual zoning amendment
fee of5?50 fora property owned by
Andy Nedza on the south boundary
Concession. The public meeting
concerning the amendment will. be
)anuary 9 at 2 p.m. at the Town-
ship offices.
Adventures in music - Roberta Walker has been travelling to schools. in
the Huron-Lambton area to present her program Adventures in Music.
Walker teaches and entertains at the same: time by using various pup-
pets and musical instruments to explain different musical forms. Here
she shows Precious. Blood School students how a dancing doll was used
for rhythm accompaniment.

Councillors Paul Klopp, Blaise
Ducharme, Don Weigand, and depu-
ty reeve Murray Keys will attend an
orientation seminar for municipal
councillors in London on February
17 and 18. The seminar is spon-
sored by the Association of Munici-
palities of Ontario.
Hay Township is calling tenders
for a replacement for the works de-
partmeni's 1985 Dodge 1/2 ton
four-wheel-drive truck. The tenders,
which must include the trade-in al-
. lowance, are to replace the truck
with a similar model with tither a
four-wheel-drive or rear -wheel -drive
drivetrain.

fices of Murray Cardiff, Jack Rid-.
dell, the Conservation Authority,
and the ministry of natural resources
about the possibility of financial
support for a new boat ramp ret
quested by concerned -citizens of St.
Joseph. - -
`Township secretary Betty O'Brien
is leaving her position as of Decem-
ber 23. Her resignation was accept-
ed with the regrets of council.

Elementary school concerts today

ZURICH - The Christmas"Concert
at St. Bonifacc School is today
both at 1:15 or 7:30 p.m.
The Christmas concert at the Pub-
lic School will have a second per-
formance Wednesday evening, -De-
cember 14 at 7:30 p.m. Everyone
is welcome to -attend both of these
school's concerts.
Auxiliary
Christmas meeting was held by
the Ladies Auxiliary at the Rest
Home last Tuesday, December 6.
The family of Dave and Ruth Sic-
bert and three children presented.a
Christmas skit telling -us "why
there is a C -JI -R 1 S T M A S!"
Mary Lou Erb- and Grace Martin
played several Christmas pieces on
the piano and .organ. Following a
sing song, Santa arrived and heificd
to hand out gifts to the residents. -.

Bean Sprouts
The Bean Sprouts Nursery School
kids gave their Christmas concert at
the public school last Wednesday
night for their parents and relatives.
They also went til the Rest Home
and sang Christmas songs for- the

The annual pot. luck supper was
last Wednesday evening in the
school gym with a good. turn -out of
adults and children. Crafts were. done
by the. little, ones following the
sampling of .several tasty supper
dishes: -

for the children before they all went
home to heel. --

the neighbours of Lattie Gascho.
was held at- the home of Cecilia
Farwell last Monday. night as she
has moved from her home on Mary
Street. into- the apartment at the
Blue Water Rest Home. -
Her husband Ed is a patient in the

Delores Gingerich was the lucky .
winner of the beautiful Christmas
wreath from the Grand Opening

last weekend.
Pre-school children had fun at the
Library's "Story Hour" Thursday.af-
tcrnoon playing games, reading sto-
ries and making.a Christmas tree to
take home. The next story hour
will be after the holidays in Janu
ary.
The grade,six class of -St. Boni-
face School along with their teacher
Miss Murphy went. around town
singing Christmas carols on Thurs-
day evening accompanied by a few
parents. All returned to the school
afterwards for some hot chocolate
and cookies:

ing to see Santa Claus at thc arena
on Saturday afternoon, an event
