GRAND BEND - The Christmas
season is upon us now, decorations
springing tip everywhere in the
towns and lights illuminating
homes in the dark countryside. Eve-
ry place large enough to have a hall
is booked for Christmas parties too,
amid the hustle` and bustle df prep-
arations.
. The United Church Women will
have thea Ch,istmas pot luck
luncheon on December 8, Thursday,
at 12:30 noon in the Sunday
School rooms. Bring your own
food, dishes, cutlery and a guest.
Also bring cookies and a decorated
basket, to pack. for shut-ins. At the
U.C.W. Noveritbcr mecting,-a large
amount .of clothing was collected
for Family ad Children's services,
which was taken to Exctcr for dis-
tribution in South Huron.
Our • Lady of• Mount Carmel -
School organised a special Chris'
ma: Craft Day, involving the enure
school. About 20 moms volun-
teered their time and talents to as-
sist' the teachers with the younger
pupils. The parents were treated to
a lavish lunch spread by the teach-
ers and everyone went back to work
for the -afternoon session. A lot.of
beautiful (and unusual) Christmas
crafts. were created in one school
day, cleaning up the aftermath, no
doubt.

The Order of the Alhambra hosted
a Christmas Party on Sunday for
their members and families with
over 40 children enjoying the fun.
The Alhambra Hall was decdrated,

to hand out the presents. Sir noble
Philip Walker and his Sultana Ro-
berta were in charge of the festivi-
ties and guest Paul Dietrich lent hitt
talents to play piano for the Christ-
mas carols.

think we did a good job. We gave
different meanings for each letter in

Every November our school goes
skating on Fridays. Our teacher
takes us to the Zurich arena for one
hour.
This month student council sold t -
shirts, sweatshirts, hooded sweat-
shirts, shorts and jogging pants.
On November 23, students from
grades 4-8 travelled to McCurdy

school. We think it is going to be
very good. We have some talented

los, then the Friendship Group en-
tertained the crowd with two num-
bers. The Friendship Group is
comprised of handicapped adults,
friends and supporters, who meet
weekly to promote spiritual
growth and s<icial interaction in an-
ecumenical
necumenical setting. -
The Thames Road Musical -Guild
brought out their fiddles and the
music started up for a dance, as
some hurried home with their
youngsters, and others stayed to
swing their partners and enjoy the
party a hit longer.

•Revision of Rates for the
Village of Grand Bend
The Grand Bend Public Utilities Commission has been advised
by Ontario Hydro that it will be adjusting the wholesale rate to
the utility by an estimated increase of 3 4%
In order to meet this additional cost as well as increases in local
costs, the utility will increase the,retail rates to their customers
by 3.12%.
This adjustment will increase a monthly residential bill with a con-
sumption of 1000 kilowatt hours by $2.00.
