the past year with only a- 2.2 per-
cent increase, even though Ontario
Hydro has increased their rates by...
5.6 percent.
"Our rates arc really based on the
weather',`' he said, noting that last
winter's -mild weather lowered de-
mand.
VanGeel told council Lucan has •a
very high percentage of homes with
electric heating, but even so, the
peak demand period is moving from
the winter to the summer because
of the increased use of air condition-
ers.

their weekend games. Brian Shuylcr
and Dcan.Schram were out with in-
juries and Todd Hayter was serving
a suspension.
Darren Neil and Fehrey each had
pair for the Irish in beating Exctcr.

EXETER - Panthers. Let's hear
you roar! The'South Huron District
High School Panthers definitely
have reason to roar. The athletes
have now completed an extremely
successful fall season in sports.
The field hockey team, under the
direction of Jim Workman, became
with no surprise, the Huron -Perth
Conference champions once agate.
SHDIIS hosted the Western Ontario
Secondary School Association's
(WOSSA) tournament at which the
Panthers also claimed the title. to ad:.
vance them to the all -Ontario (OFS-
SA) tournament in Kitchener. The
-girls bowed out in the quarter -final
game to end a very prosperous sea-
son. '
The cross-country team ran very
well this season; under coach Joe
Fulop. The team attended -many
meets outside the H -P conference
and had some -excellent results.
The Senior girls managed to be-
come the H -P and WOSSA champi-
ons for 1988. Rosemary Regier led
the team -,.placing first in • HP and
seventh at WOSSA.
The team attended OFSAA in
Kingston where they placed tenth.
The. Senior boys -brought SH's
second best finish overall, placing
second at H -P. and fifth at WOSSA.
Larry Miller and Scott Wellington
led the Panthers, finishing first and
second r63pcctivety at H -P.
The Midget girls brought great re-
sults throughout the season and fin-.
ished third at H -P to advance to
WOSSA.
Charlene Regier led the Panthers
placing fourth at H -P and Carrie -
Lynn Ducharmc finished fifth.
The Midget boys ran well, this
season but finished their season at
H -P where thoy finished fourth.
Dan Vanderlaan had a successful
first season for the Panthers placing
fourth at hI-P.
The golf team attended -this year's
11-P tournament in Stratford with
both a girls and a boys team.
- Deanna Bilcski led the girls to a
second -place finish with the low
gross of the .tournament.
Steve DuBarry was two strokes
away of claiming the low gross for
H -P and led the boys to'a third
I lace. finish.
The Panthers advanced to WOS-
SA where Jason Heywood led: the
boy's team. •

S H's Junior football team had a
problem with injuries this .season:
This, along with some had luck
seemed to make it difficult for the
Panthers to keep up with their com-
petition: The team finished fourth
in the 1 -I -P conference, under the su-
pervision -of coach Dave Cox. •
The Senior football team had an
extremely-suecessful. schedule going
7-0. Coach 'Ron Bogart, led the
Panthers to their third consecutive
H -P title over the Godcrich •Vi-
kings. -
The Midget girls' basketball team
put forth an excellent effort in their
first season of highschool- basket-
ball. Coach Pat Rowe, was pleased.
with the girls season. - • ,
The Panthers attended the final H-
P tournament in Godcrich where
they lost in:the consolation fin -al
game. _ -
-The Juniors girls team showed
potential this year w- th a good sea-
son. Coach, Dennis Neilson, had
his first. experience coaching girl's
basketball and led -the girls to .a
fourth place finish:in the Confer-
ence. -
The Senior girls' basketball team
had quite a prosperous season under
the direction of Terry O'Rourke.
