Hawks picked up a win and a tie
last week.
On Tuesday they travelled to
Thompson arena and came home.
with a4-4 tie against the London
Odd Rascals.•
Ernie Ahrens, Bob. McDonald,
Ken Bergman and Bill Pincombe
each scored one goal for the Molt-
ing Hawks. Brian Hodgins had two
assists while Ken Bergman, Eric
Finkbeiner, Ernie Ahrens, Bob
Jones and Bill Pincombc all had
• single assists.
- On Monday they -hosted the Zu-
rich Has -Beans and came up with a
7-5 win. Scott Burton led the way

South Huron's Senior girls' bas-
ketba11 team were one of eight
teams to participate in the week- .
end's Medway Classic -invitational
basketball tournament in Arva.
Friday night, the girls met Lon-
don Central for a .tough match.
Central was quite aggressive allow-
ing S.H. step to the foul line quite
often. The .girls led 18-6 at half
time.
In the second half, Central secmck1
to "wake up" threatening the Pan-
thers convincing lead. Fortunately,
the team pulled together and dcfend-
eai their lead, winning 34-28. Tc

On Saturday, the field hockey
Panthers travelled to Sunnyhrook
Park in Scarborough to be one of
48 teams to participate in an invita-
tional tournament..
The team was placed in the top of
eight pools winning two games and
tying three. The tournament proved
that South Huron could compete
with the best teams in Ontario: •

Panthers lose to Goderich

On Thursday, SH's junior foot-
ball team headed north for a second
attempt this season against their ri-
vals, the Goderich Vikings. Howev-
er, the team was not successful,
losing 27-6.- -
Although the weather was not fa-
vourable for football, the Panthers
only excuse was their butter fin-
gers. Head coach; Dave Cox, said,

Midget Girls Basketball team
played in a tournament at Saunders
Secondary School in London last
weekend. -
The locals were matched against
John Paul ii (thc cvcntual.tourna-
ment champions) in their first
game and were beaten badly 61-16
by the stronger London school.
Kerry Manders scored 10 of
South Huron's points.
in Saturday's game, the midget
put together the finest effort of the
season so far, but still lost 44-29
to Stratford Northwestern.
in this game, Carri-Sue Kyle put
forth an outstanding scoring 14
points and controlling defensive re-
bounds. Stacey Rader and Kerry
Manders also played very well.
