HomeMy WebLinkAboutTimes-Advocate, 1988-09-28, Page 18Page 4A Times -Advocate, September 28, 1988 South Huron dominates Red and Black field hockey tournament By Michelle Ellison EXETER - On Friday, South Hu- ron's field hockey team dominated their annual Red and Black Tourna- ment, winning all six of their games scoring 12 goals for and none against. - There were 15 teams participating in the tournament, travelling from as far as Cambridge, St. Thomas, Hanover and Kitchener. South Huron's first victim was Parkside. During the 20 minute game; Kim Crawford scored the team's only goal to win the game one to zero. Next, the gids met Ingersoll once again dominating the game to.a three to zero shutout. Scoring forSHDHS were Joelle Lamport, Ian Crawford and Marcie Ellison. A 1-0 victory over Medway brought the girls their fourth win of the day. Tina Campbell scored the Pan- ther's goal. South Huron then de- feated Central Dufferin with a count of four to zero. . Marcie Ellison and Tina Camp- bell shared the victory with two - goals apiece to advance South Hu- ron to the semi-final round. Also advancing were West Elgin, John Diefenbaker and Medway. In the semi:final..game, South Huron met Medway whom they had already defeated earlier in the tourna- ment. As before, the girls dominat- ed the game and won 1-0. The goal was made by Leanne Dietrich. The final game against John Die- fenbaker proved to be little compe- tition for the, strong South Huron team. Jeanette Kaak and Kim Crawford scored for South Huron making the final score two•to zero. The shut outs were recorded by South Huron's three goalies, Nicola . Rosie, Tonya Rich, and Natalie Brokenshire. South Huron's field hockey team played their first league game in Listowel on Tuesday.. The girls won handily over the.Listowel team with a score of 4-0. Scoring for South Huron were Kim Crawford with two goals, Tina Campbell and Cindy Moore with one goal each.
