AWARD - For the second year in a row, the safety committee at South Huron Hospital was awarded the Accident
Prevention Achievement Award from the Heatth•Care Occupational Health and Safety Association, a division of
the Ontario Hospital Association. South Huron was one of 29 recipients among the 175 hospitals, nursing homes
and homes for the aged participating. The committee is composed of (back) Lloyd Hodgins, Clara De Vries.(left),
chairman Leroy Edwards, Cathy Mugford, Jean Glasgow, Jane Harvey and Liz Stephens.
Walk-A-Dog-a-Thon this Sunday
EXETER - Sunday, October 2,
will mark the fourth National
Walk-A-Dog-A-Thon. Canadians in
cities and towns across Canada will
be walking 10 kilometres with their
dogs to raise funds for Canine Vi-
sion Canada, a training centre for
dog guides for the -blind and visual-
ly impaired.
Bayfield will be a host to the
event for this region. Our local
walk will begin at 1:30 p.m. at the
Bayfield Fairgrounds leaving from
the.back ball diamond. Registration
is a half hour before the event be-
gins.
Want to walk along? It's easy!
Just pick up a sponsor form and get
as many pledges as you can, then
on October 2 come and walk our
scenic route as far as you and Fido
can. Sponsor forms are available
from any Lion or LIoness member
of the Bayfield, Exeter, Centralia -
Huron Park, Vanastra, or Zurich
clubs.
Many of the 53,000 registered
• blind Canadians as potential candi-
dates could be provided with a free
dog guide with the money raised at

We don't plan to have a pot luck
dinner in September as our next
meeting September 28 falls on the
sameday as the Ham and Turkey
Supper sponsored by the Masons at
their Hall. Most of our members
look forward to this annual dinner
at 4:30 p.m. Harold said he had
tickets following the euchre.
We all signed a get well card for
Mrs. Meikle, one of our members
who is in hospital.
With eight tables in play we
spent the rest of the afternoon play-
ing cards. After our usual 10 games
the prizes went to the following:

Stewart;
Lone hands - Harry Shepherd;
Lorraine Neil and Low - Marian La-
vine, Donald Lockhart.
We were. so pleased to welcome
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Reith. All
