gathered at Morton's school (S.S.
No. 7 McGillivray) for the purpose
of organizing a Women's Institute.
Only a few officers were'elccted
at that time. One was the presi-
dent, the Iate..Mrs. Andrew .Dt)r-
man. What will we.call our Insti-

Blanche (Robinson) Webb -looked
out of the window she saw the

A second meeting was held on
April 27,- 1938%- At this meeting
many more. members joined a full
slate -of officers was elected.
Now, 50 years later, the Institute
members, former members and
friends gathered in the Ailsa Craig
United Church for -a gala party to
celebrateet a 50th Anniversary:
There' was one charter member
present, Mrs. Jennie Morton; and
she was honored with a gift and a
corsage. Martha Rees also pinned
corsages on Mrs. Mary Rees, Mrs.
Esther Craven, and Mrs. Reta
Hughes. These ladies have been
members of Riverview for all of the
50 years.
The other living charter member,
Mrs. Blanche Webb', was unable to
attend but she sent greetings. Greet-
ings were also received from our
twin W.I. in Solihull, England.
The Ailsa Craig U.C.W. served a
delicious roast beef dinner and be-
fore we had our dessert of cake and
ice cream, Jennie Morton, the char-
ter member and Rcta •Hughes, one
of the first presidents, cut the anni-
versary cake.
Mrs. Olive Douglas and Miss El-.
eanor Charlton entertained through-
