•EXETER - Before beginning pro-
ceedings in provincial court in Ex=
eter on September 13, Judge JED
Hunter announced "that those who
pleaded -guilty to charges of.drink-
ing and driving• would bc'• fined
S600. The Tine would be,S750 for
anyone who entered a not guilty
--plea and was found guilty after at
trial. •

Michael J. Finlayson,-Staffa, was
• stopped ncar"Dublin on August 22. •
Two breath samples gave, readings
of 188 and 198. He was fined Sj600
with 9Q days to pay, and prohibited
from driving for two years.
• Finlayson had been stopped in
. Exeter on January 10. lie had re-
: -fused the ALERT, was arrested and
became abusive with.poIice: Two •
samples read -180 and 170. He was
sentenced to 14 days in jail and pro-
hibited from driving for two years -
on the second charge..
A blood sam jle taken from Larry
- A. Parsons, 31. Simcoc St., Exeter,-
- after -he was stopped for a loud ex-
haust in -Huron Park on January 24
showed an alcohol level of.228. -He
was fined and had his licence sus-
pended for 12 months.
Allan T. Clark, RR 1 Mt. Elgin,
• pleaded guilty to two separate
charges. Breath samples taken
when picked.up-in Exeter on April
21 gave readings of •160. -Samples
taken when police were called to a
disturbance in Centralia _a month
later registered 190 and 1140. -
Clark was fined and given a 12 -
month suspension on the first
charge, and sentenced to 1'4`t1ays in
jail and a two-year concurrent sus
pension on the second charge. .
Richard Brian Sokolowski, Huron
• Park, entered- guilty pleas to one
charge of impaired driving and two

latest meeting, McGillivray town-
• ship council. decided to purchase a
new road grader. -
_Council reviewed tenders received
from Champion and John Deere and
agreed to purchase a John Deere
grader- .for S130,950, gibject to
Ministry approval and confirmation
of a Provincial grant of S75,000.

a two-year suspension in October•of
1986 when convicted in -London of
a BAC over 80.

Friday's at 7:00 p.m. until Sundays.

Timothy A. Gloushcr, Seaforth,
was sentenced to 14 days in nail for
impaired driving, and a consecutive
60 days in jail and 19st his licence
for two years for driving Mile dis-
qualified by a court order.. The
charges arose from being stopped in
Hay township on May 23 after al-
-most causing an accident by pulling
across. Highway 4 from: concession
road 2.3. Two breath samples gave
readings of 210 and.230.
•Gloushcr had received a one-year
suspension and a judge -ordered "six-
month driving prohibition when he
been convicted of a similar offence
in November, "1987. The judge
will recommend a -TAP (temporary
absence program).
Shawn Andrew Kutchaw, Ln -
don, was sent to jail for 60 days
with a TAP recommendation for
driving in Stephen township on'
August 14 while disqualified. A
check showed he had been sentenced
to 14 days in jail and suspension of,
drivingprivileges. for two years for
impaired driving in September, -
1986.
Richard Becker, Clinton, was
fined 5100 or five days in jail for
possession of cannihus resin. He
was a passenger in a vehicle
stropped for a traffic offence in Exet-
er on June 25. Alcohol was detect
ed on the breath of the driver, Mi-
chael .Riehl, who will appear in
court on October 11.
A search of the car revealed a sub-
stance on the lid of a film container
in -the glove . compartment, and
•more in the pocket of a pair of
jeans behind the passenger seat.
Peter Grzyb, Longon, was fined
100 for vioilating a probation order
to abstain from alcohol, imposed in
. February, .1987 for three convic-
tions for a BAC, over 86. While
intoxicated on August, 11, 1987, he-
-
e- hired a taxi in London to take hinm
to the Patrick Carter residence in
Elimviile. Injuries received in a
fight with Carter put him in Lni-
: vcrsity Hospital in London • for
three days. - - " • -
Kevin John Neeb,-125- King St..
Hensall, pleaded guilty to -causing
public mischief by" giving police
false information conceming'equip-
ment taken on.Junc 5 from a car -
owned:by Terry Alexander. Nceb
was fined S250 or 15 days in jail.
He had a previous record dating
back to September 25, 1984 for
break and enter. -
Robert Norman Smith, RR 1
Mitchell, paid a S2S0 fine for vio-
lating a probation order imposed
july 11, 1988 in Kitchener ordering
hien to "keep .peace and- be of g(X)d
behaviour". He had been followed
to the Rec Centre on August 20 af-
ter being observed throwing a her
bottle out of a car onto Wellington
St.. in Exeter. He was arrested for -
failing to identify.himsclf, and then
giving *false address. .
A publication ban. was imposed
on the preliminary hearing of Paul
. Br(xlerick, Exeter, on charges of ar-
son arising from a number of fires
in Exeter. and Vsborne township in
the summer and fall of 1987:- The
hearing will continue in Godcrich
on November 9. Broderick -remains•
in custody. -

Council agreed that the open
house for ratepayers held in 1987
served a useful purpose and that an-
other open house should he held in
October, 1988.
Election Boundaries.
From 1842 to 1849, all township
officials, including three Town.
Wardens, were elected by open vote
at the -Annual Town Meeting.
The 185( town -meeting only
elected five councillors, Wm. Fish-
er, Patrick Barber, James Blair and
Lawrence Barry. The following
month Council named Fisher Reeve
and appointed the other 36 officials
to administer township finances;
• roads and schools.
A by-law was- also passed estab-
lishing the boundaries of five Rural
Wards, each one of which "would
elect one representative to the 1851
