Champion yearling

mediate yearling class and was also
Reserve Junior Champion at the.
Perth County Holstein Show in
Stratford September 9. The follow-
ing week Molly placed second in
the Intermediate yearling class at
the Western Ontario Championship
Show in Stratford. .

the September meeting of the Staf-
fa Women's Institute, to be held in
the Township Hall on Wednesday,
September 28 at 7:30 p.m. Every-

11 at the Varna church services,

U.C.W. Joan Bcierling recognizing
the doors and Mary Reid. the crests
on them in memory of her husband,
Bill Reid. Varna U.C.W. ladies re-
placed three doors in all, the big
front glass doors with the United
Church crests donated by Mary Reid
and two side doors.

The Varna U.C.W. meeting on
Thursday, September 8 was opened
-byPresident Joan Bcircrling. Thank
yous were read by Deb Rathwell
from. the Taylor family, McCly-
monts and the Bruccfield Bible
School thank you for the donation.
One hundred dollars was sent to
Missions and Services. Varna and
Goshen is sponsoring a child from
Dr. Graham's Homes out of Lon-
don. The home is in Kalimpong,
West Bengla, India. The picture of
the six year old girl was received
along With a letter from.her house
maid explaining Christine Grier -
son's background and abilities. •
,London Conference Workshop is
to be held October 3 in Lambton
United Church Centre. The fall ex-
ecutive meeting is in Kirkton on
October 4.
The U.C.W. is catering to a wed-
ding and a night lunch. Varna is
also hosting the Regional Fall Ral-
ly October 13 at 6:30 p.m.

County, who was very informative
and very interesting. We heard the

On September 1;0 a Co-ed ball
tournament was held in Stanley
Township. The Tip -Top Taylors
won the 13 Championship against
the. Dreamers. The A Champion-
ship was won by the Hill and Hil-
lctts,.who beat the Gems and Jew-
eils. The male M.:V.P. for the B
Championship was ,R andy Blake,
the female M.V.P. was Pat Taylor.
The male M.V.P. from the A
Championship was Brian Raker and
the female M.V.P. was Julie Fal-
coner. Special thanks to alt the
umpires, scorekeepers and anyone
else who helped out.
Stan -Lee . club -
The Stan-Lee_club met on Tues-
day, September 65 to begin activi-
ties for their fifth year. The even -
ing 'began with the groups of t'wo
touring Phenale's Wagon and Car-
riage Shop.
A beautiful Landau Carriage was
on display- in the show room
which they are making in one end
of their building. This carriage is
similar to over 30 carriages they
have shipped to Hawaii. It was tru-
ly a master piece involving the
work of several different artisans.
The making of various parts of
the carriage is jobbed out, such as
the making of the wheels by ,the
Mennonites. .
The carriages shipped to Hawaii
were painted different colours in-
cluding a white one for use at a
wedding or a very special occasion.
Most of the Pcnhalc sales take
place in U.S.A. and recently they
Keith and Mary Rowntree and El-
mer and Noreen Hayter were repre-
sentatives to the U.S.C.O. Con=
vcntion from Zone 8. Bob and Elva
Peck, Anna Keys and Margaret El-
liot represented the Stan -Lee Club
with Keith, Elmer, Anna and Bob
being the official delegated.
Stan -Lee Club is to entertain the .
residents at Htronvicw on Septem-
ber 21 at 2 p.m. Each lady in the
group is asked of bring a pan of
squares or a couple of dozen for
lunch., hopefully, everyone will
come to help and also visit with
the residents.
The zone rally will be held in Ex-
eter on October I.
-Jean Henderson volunteered to
send cards to anyone in the club
who is ill. If you know of anyone,
please let her know.

returned from a week's holiday in
Alberta. They were at Beaver.
Lodge, Alberta celebrating a 50th
surprise wedding anniversary for
Joyce's aunt and uncle, Joyce met
many cousins she hadn't seen for.

Welcome home to Audrey Rem-
ington who has just returned to
Varna after a three-month vacation
in Australia where she visited her
two sons and four grandchildren.
Audrey resumed to Varna on Sep-
tembcr 1 via Melbourne, Sydney,
Los Angeles and Toronto.
Congratulations to Steve and Lin-
da Keys on the birth of theirdaugh-
tcr, Jennifer Lindsay born on Sep-
tember 9.
