any of the following question than
your articles should be displayed at
the Exeter Fall Fair.

daughter and it can be completed in
two weeks?
Do you spend your spare fink re-
finishing wooden chairs or cabinets
for sale?
Arc you going to make yourself .
a pair of dress pants to complete
your fall wardrobe?
Did you take any photos while
-on vacation this summer?
Are you planning on hosting a
Halloween party? Make your plans
early and use your ideas for comps -
i tition at the fair. '

best on the block or have you tried

EXETER - September has arrived
and, it seems, so hag the cool
weather. It's hard to believe that
only a month ago it was so hot and
humid. With the arrival of Sep-
tember comes school. Moms and
children arc always happy to sec
that day.
Birthday wishes go this week to
Irene Johns. Irene is celebrating her
78th birthday.
We arc looking forward to our fall
worship services. We have missed
the ministers all summcr and wel-
come them back.
Residents in the Lodge have a
new challenge. We have a jigsaw
puzzle. set up •.in the lounge.
Progress is slow and it may take us
a while but eventually we will be
proud of the finished projcct.
Last week we enjoyed our Mon-
day evening Bingo in the Lodge.
Ladies in the nursing home are
pleased with their afternoon of
makeup and even the men get into
the show w uh a shoeshine.
Residents continuic to enjoy our
exercise program three times a
week. Exercise is even more im-
portant now as we approach fall and
winter. We can't get outside= for
walks and so must exercise indoors.
Thought. for the week: , Smiles
never go up in price or down in val-
ue.

EXETER - On a most beautiful
Sunday, August 28, 1988 in the
Riverside Park, Exctcr, the Ilunter
families of St. Marys held a reun-
ion for the "union" of the late
Grandma and Grandpa Wright (Wil-
liam and Lena). Most of the rela-
tives are from Exeter; others wcrc
from Ottawa, Arthur, Belle River,
London, Woodstock, Wingham,
Zurich, Stratford and St. Marys. A
doorprize of all those attending (97
persons) was won by Norm Whit-
ing, Exctcr.
The -sack races, three-legged races,
the relays, tug-of-war and the first
half of the family volleyball game
were enjoyed by all.
Everyone giggled and laughed at
the snapshots of- the past reunion..
We also saw a large picture of Ka-
thy Merner, who was in "Rhapsody
on Ice", precision skating, in new
Zealand and just returning tomor-
rO W.
The little girls guessing game
winner was Brenda Wright and her
brothcr Jamie won the little boys
guessing game. The coin guessing
game was won by. Terri -Lynn .La -
mond and the tire measurement by
Randy Miller.
After our potluck supper, we
played off the rest of the volleyball
and presented six pairs of socks and
a "Wright Reunion" trophy to the
winners - the Ellcrington gang.
Cord Sutcliffe showed a 31-ycar-old
movie clip of the Wright families
at their reunion - the Masons, par-
ents of the Wrights.
The next reunion will be held at.
the Rod and Gun Club near Fan-
shawc in London by Bonnie and
Trevor McLeod.

Another part of the prizc list that
has been completely revised this
year is the fruit and vegetable class-
es. Pears and grapes have been added
along with,collection of herbs, col-
lection of salad vegetables and
more.
A collection is a" group of fruits
or vegetables in one exhibit which
is usually smaller than a display and
containing a minimum of 3 varie-
ties. A display is to contain a mini-
mum of 15 varieties and 30 points
will be given for effectiveness of ar-
rangement. For a complete listing
see pages 50 and 51 of the prize

The theme this year is "Focus on
Rutabaga" and you will find many
ways to use rutabaga for competi-
tion.
ompetition. Study the prize list and I am
sure that you will find several arti-
cles that you have made or can
make before fair time. Without the
exhibitors and their entries the fair
would not have the same attraction
and Exeter fair is known to fairgoers
for the quality workmanship that is
put into the articles in competition.
Please bring your articles this
year. Who knows you may go
home with a red ribbon. To enter in
the competition you must first be-
come a member -of the -Exeter Agri-
cultural Society by paying $2. You
will need to fill out an entry form
listing alt your entries and must
also place art entry tag on each of
your articles for competition.
Prize lists and entry tags arccur-
rently available at the Exeter Times
Advocate or the South Huron Recre-
ation Centre.
Just send your membership fee to
the sec. ureas. Mrs. Gwcn Coward,
