We made it through all that hot weath- er! Perhaps it was at a slower pace, but we managed quite a lot of activ- ity even then! - To celebrate the end- of July, -about 30 of us went out to Beth's farm for a picnic lunch: Although the sun was hot, those big -shade trees and a slight breeze made it a nice place to spend the afternoon. • One highlight for August was the day harry Martin brought his '38 Plymouth and gave us rides that felt like literal trips down memory lane! Do you remember just how much room there was between front and back scat of one of those old cars? what luxury! - Especially if you're used to a "compact". It was a big day -again when we went to Huron Country Playhouse to. see "Windfall". Guess we'd all have a story to tell if we won five and a half million, but we sure en- joyed seeing this version. You should have seen us the day Shirley Watson came to show us how to care for our skin and apply make-up. Wow! we should have had her=come before we went to the Playhouse- so we could -show off our make -overs! Even our lone gent had the time of his life watching what all goes into our beauty rou- tines. He's still trying to decide who was the winner! Don't you think we should tell him he was? - It doesn't matter how often you've seen "On Golden Pond", it's still a fascinating story to cnjoy again, as w a did. Evelyn McNaughton was with us again. This time with some breath- taking pictures of Scandinavia with its' astoundingly beautiful -fjords and treacherous hairpin turns up scenic mountainsides. Along with tales of trolls and blueberry soup, it- was twas an interesting morning. The afternoon was interesting too! Sid Fraleigh came to present us with our New Horizons Grant. We lost no time!! Were already en- joying our TV.monitorand VCR, our new food cart and dishes. • We had "Dolls through the Ages," when we brouglit in dolls of all kinds. We tried our hand at liq- uid embroidery and discussed names, meanings of and who we were named for. We received helpful tips on financial planning with Mery Good, and were introduced to a variety -of crafts, compliments of Barb's Country Crafts, Exeter. The most recent dayout, was a barbecue at the Shady Pines Chalet. What a beautiful setting in which to soak up the peace of the country side! As you can sec, we . keep busy with a wide range of activities, but we also have time for a lot of good old chit-chat, and of course -those whirlpool baths, foot care etc. - This poem broughtin by one of - our seniors pretty well describes our gang at Craigwiel Day Centre How Old Are You? Age is a quality of mind; If you have left -your dreams be- hind - If hope is lost, If you no "longer look ahead - If your ambitions' -fires arc dead. - Then you are old! - beBut if fromn life you take the st, And if in life you keep the jest, If love you hold - • No matterhowthe years go by - No matter how the birthdays fly You are not old!
