celled Tuesday and Saturday even-
ings and restricted to one game on
Thursday evening because of rain.
In .triples competition,. Gordon
Hoggarth (skip) Emma Campbell
(Vice) and Marion Dearing (lead)
scored.12 points.
Henry Trickey and Walter Spencer
also scored twelve in doubles com-
petition.
Anna Ballantync (skip), Olive
Hicks (vice) and Irwin Armstrong
(lead) teamed up in triples to score
10 in thcir-gamc.

EXETER - Ironwood ladies golf
club held their annual awards night
Monday when Karen Bowerman
was named the A flight low gross
champion and Marlene Parsons was
awarded top honours for low net..
• Carolyn Gilfillan claimed low
gross in 13 flight while the low net
championship went to Phyllis !lay-
man.
Top honours in C flight went to
Barb Whiting while the low nct
championship was taken by Batty
Brintncll.
Karel . Chisholmc was named --
most improved golfer.
. The ne"w executive for the 1989
season was also named. Hazel Bea-
ver will take the duties of president
• while Gracer Farquhar will be first
vice-president. Joan Blake will act
as secretary and Patty_Brintnell,will
be . treasurer.
. In a texas scramble wrap-up, the
team of Marge Schilbe, Julianne
Varlcy, Pat Ballantync and Carrie
Parsons claimed first with a com-
bined sccre of 35.
• In second place was the team of
Grace Farquhar, Karel Chisholm,
Mary Jane Taylor and -Jean Ship-
way. They scored a 37 on a count

week when Bob Reynolds recorded a
low gross of 41 to claim "t3 flight.
Ray Webb followed with 42.
Low net honours: went to Monty
Scott and Doug Pcnhale with 30
each.
Gary Kyle carded a 44 in C flight
to take low gross. Ile was followed
by Bill Armstrong with 47 and Bob
Osgood with 51. Low net went to
Paul Ritchie with 26 and Mike
Veal with 32.
The longest drive went to Doug
Pcnhale while Don Wallace came
closest to the hole. Bob Reynolds -
was the skins winner.

Butts claims title
EXETER - Mike Butts, with, a
nine birdie barage, shot a six -under
par 66 to capture the Exeter Mens
Open Sunday, August 28 at Exeter
Golf Club.
A field of 58 players -vied for
S5,000 in prizes, including. a trip
on Air Ontario system won by Bill
Armstrong and a set of clubs won
by Doug Fletcher.
Labatts, Air Ontario, Miles Ford
Sales., Hostess Foods; McGuiness
and the Exeter Pro Shop sponsored
the event.
