Tony Laughrenc told about the. youth retreat the Christian Educa- tion department sponsored over the weekend. Some of the young peo- ple presented a skit" of boxes. One boy asked several how they put God in a box. First said he and his box wcrc so bad and active God was not in it. Next a girl had a box with a mirror that reflected her view of God. Next boy said he could not put God in a box. Next girl said her_ boxheld her treasures. A voice told them to be quiet. Reading scriptures the voice rebuked their wrong.atti- .tude of God except the .boy .who said his Gid was too big fora box. In Next skit a girl was promoting how to change your life, with her helper collecting fees for each change. One young man paid for different changes, from an outdoors person, to academic, to sportsman, complete with different outfits each time; all in an effort to attract girls. When nothing worked, hc_decidcd _ he had better just be himself. He said no matter -how well you raise your children, you have no guarantee how they will .turn out. They must make their own decisions. In Proverbs 22:6 we read to train up a child ,in the. way it should go. • Your children will not always bc good teenagers. There is such peer pressure in -schools most parents know little of. Teenagers arc being brainwashed ;with drugs and music. Lucan OPP LUCAN - During the week of July 17 to 23, Ontario Provincial Police .in Lucan investigated nine motor vehicle accidents. There wcrc four persons receiving only minor injuries. O.P.P. officers investigated 39 general occurrences over this period of time including a break, enter and theft, theft- from -chicle and a re- covered stolen truck. The teachers are to be com- mended for using their God-given talents and giving of their time to minister to the young during their summer vacation. The superintendent was Mrs. Cindy Hamather; Nurscry - Mau- reen Stire, Patti Miller; Kindergart- en -Wendy Boogerman, Stacy Ra- der, Christina Schad•; Grade 1 - Doreen Koopmans, Cynthia Wil= lert; Grade 2 - Peggy and Tammy Restemayer; Grade 3 - Tracey Stirs, Barbara Reschke; Grade 4 - Marga - Centralia by Mrs. Tom Kooy CENTRALIA - At the United Church on Sunday Rev. Carter chose as her topic ."Unlikely Ser- vants". Penny Smith was at the or- gan for the service. Vacation Bible school at the United Church was a happy experi- ence last week for all involved. About 45 children and young peo- ple took part, Rev. Carter thanked all the leaders who helped out, the moms who stayed to assist at the last minute, the United Church ladies for the great snacks and all who made fi- nancial contributions.
