Bridal shower at Thames Road

THAMES ROAD - To the piano
music "Walk Hand In Hand" played
by Jean Hodgen, bride Lori Lynn
Lauzoti, married July 7 at Charlotte-
town, P.E.L, was escorted to the
decorated platform by Pauline Pym.
June Stewart, aunt of the bride,
welcomed everyone.
A humorous skit "The Proposal"
was enacted by Ann Remick as Lori
Lynn; groom by Marg McCarter;
Betty- Ann Lamport as. brother-in-
law, Pete Kosi; Lisa Kernick as
brother-in-law, Brian Sullivan and
June Stewart as brother Murray Ste-
wart, which brought a lot of laugh-
ter from the audience.
Jean Hodgcrt played "Ain't Shc
Sweet", "Take -Me .Out To The Ball -
game and "Whispering" while the
ladies were changing for their other
funny skit with. Ann Kernick, June
Stewart, Marg McCarter and Betty
Ann Lamport. taking part. Marg
McCarter read a nicely worded ad-
dress. •
A decorated basket filled with
many gifts was carried in by Lori
Kernick and Erin Richardson. After
opening up the many beautiful and
useful presents the .bride thanked
cvcryonc and also the ones that got
up the shower. -
A delicious smorgasbord lunch
brought -an enjoyable evening to a
close.
The shower was held Monday
evening in the church with about 50
in attendance. Congratulations to
Norman and Lori Lynn Lauzon who
will be living in. Timmins.
Bridal Shower
About 40 Iadics and girls gathered •
at the church on Wednesday evening
to. honor Debbie Ethcrington, Au-
gust bride -elect. To the strains of
"Here Comes The Bride" played by
Laurel Miner, Debbie was escorted
to a decorated chair and platform by
her sister-in-law Karen Ethcrington.
' Aunt Alma Ethcrington was chair
lady.
A floral wedding contest was con-
ducted by Marilyn Pym anda bride
alphabet contest by Alma.
A •humorous -reading "How To
Tame A Husband" was read by
Mary -Rowel iffc. A nicely worded
address was read by Marilyn Pym.
Robyn Ethcrington and -Jackie
Morgan pulled in a decorated wagon
filled with many useful and beauti-
ful gifts. After opening them, Deb-
bie thanked everyone for the gifts
and to the people who got the
shower up.
She invited everyone to her recep-
tion at South Huron Rec Centre on
August.13. We wish Pat and Deb-
bie a happy married life.
Church Service
:The combined church service was
held at Elimyille with a good crowd
in attendance.
Rev. Sheila MacGregor told the
children about the Baptismal Font
a.nd the different uses of water..
Mr. Bruce Delbridge, clerk of ses-
sion at Elimville, called Gerald and
Carolyn Johns -=forward and' Rev.
Sheila MacGregor baptized Matthew
Philip son of Gerald and Carolyn.
Carolyn was presented with a bou-
quct.df flowers.
The flowers in the church were
placed there in memory of the late
Ivan Brock. Sympathy is extended
to his wifc, family and relatives.
Coming events
Don't forget, ladies, we arc invited
to the Iadics meeting at Cromarty
on Wednesday evening July 20 at 8
p.m. -
Next, Sunday July 24 at 10:30
a.m. the annual picnic and worship
service will be held at Morrison
Dam. In case of rain the service
will be held at Thames Road
Church. •
Everyone is to bring plates, cups,
cutlery, lawn chairs and picnic bas-
ket.

July 31 the service will take place
at Thames Road at 1:00 p.m. when
baptism of Alexandra, baby daugh-
ter of Rev. Sheila and Richard Mac-

onviceti. at the manse following the ser-

Jack Stewart. On Sunday, Mr. and

party for newlyweds, Mr. and Mrs.
Norman Lauzon. They left on
Monday morning for their new
home in Timmins. Congratula-
tions Norman and Lori Lynn.

GRADUATE Mr. and Mrs. Fred
Dobbs Jr. of RR 1 Centralia are
proud to announce the graduation
of their daughter, Patricia, with a
Bachelor of Arts Degree (Philoso-
phy Major) et the University- of
Western Ontario Convocation on
June 9, ,1.988. Patty is the only
grand -daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Fred Dobbs Sr. of Exeter and sister
of Fred Dobbs III. A graduate of
Matthews Hall in London. and Med
way High School in Arva, Patty
plans to continue her education
with graduate studies in Theology
at Huron College, University of
Western Ontario. All best wishes
