Improve Lucan and -area. ambulance service
LUCAN` - New facilities official-
ly opened in Lucan Friday after-
noon will provide quicker and list -
ter ambulance service for resident'
of the village of.Lucan and the sur-
rounding townships.
A new 710 square foot office and
:garage building will allow employ -

• six part-time employees. will be at
the new facility each week day
from. Monday to Friday from 8
am. to 5 p.m. and are on standby
call the rest of the tittle.
I laskctt added, " We arc hoping
the Ministry of Health will extend
our hours to 50 each week in the
very near future."
Bill; the fourth generation of the
Haskett fatuity to be involved in
ambulance service built the new fa-
cility with funding assistance from
the Ontario Ministry of Health.
The first ambulance service in Lu -
can was established by Charlie Has -
ken in 1882 to be followed- by his
son William, grandson Clarence and
now great grandson Bill.
Middlesex MPP Doug Rcycraft
confirmed that a recommendation
has been made toextend ambulance
service hours in small coummuni-
ties to 50 hours ref. week." .
1 le added, "We wouldn't Want any-
one to think that this evolution is
at an end, but another step towards
expansion and improvement.
Rcycraft continued, " We some-
times take ambulance services for..
granted until,a crisis comes along.
It's a comfort to know they are there
when you need them."
Lucan reeve Noon Steeper said,
•
"We arc thankful to the four genera-
tions of the Haskett fancily in pro-
viding ambulance service, to the vil-

north end of Middlesex county arc
now covered quite adequately by ser-
vices in Lucan and Parkhill.-
- Bill Baskett concluded; " In this
day and age while we rover Lucan
and arca, we.. are not restricted to our
'own territory. Under Central De-

to go anywhere if we are out on the
