ST MARYS - Exeter Greys
continued their domination of
the South Perth Ladies Fast -
ball League last Tuesday when
they handed a sturdy St Marys
club a 5-0 loss.
St Marys gave the power-
house locals a run for their
money, however, holding
Greys scoreless until the sixth
inning.
Tammy Mathcrs dopbled in
the sixth to score Lynne Farqu-
har and then Gail Baucrman

garnc. Andy Glavin turned in a good
defensive effort while a diving
catch was the only thing whi Jt
kept hire from hitting a home run
in the first inning.
Catcher Scott Rowe notched. a
good hit and played a strong game
behind the plate. A diving catch by
Paul Van Dykcn ended a last in-
ning rally by North Bay.
An impressive defensive effort
wasn't quite enough to give Exctcr
the edge over Owcn Sound. MacL
can put the locals in the lead early
when he made a spectacular catch,
then threw to third where Rowe
picked off a runner to end the in-
ning. That set the stage for Glavin
to hit a two RBI home run which.
gave Exctcr a 4-3 advantage.
Rowe allowed only four earned
runs in five 'innings of pitching.
He also went two -for -three at bat.
Glavin went three -for -three. Geoff
Glavin, Ryan Beckett and Van
Dykcn all turned in good defensive
efforts.
In league play, Tykes wcrc denied
a win by the narrowest of margins
when Lucan topped than 11-10.
Exctcr was in the lead until the
bottom of the sixth when Lucan
tied things up. A go-ahead run in
the seventh gave Lucan the advan-
tage. Guenther, Geoff and Andy
Glavin, Rowe, Hartman Michael
Schwindt and Andrew Hem all con-
tributed hits.

Centennials sag in Wallacetown, lose 3-2
WALLACETOWN - Exeter Cen-
tennials ended up on the low sick
of. a 3-2 score when they visited
Wallacctown, Sunday evening.
Although Exctcr had more quali-
ty chances, particularly in thc sec-
ond half, the local Shooters failed
to connect. A cross bar was hit by
Chuck Walker, and Dale Rcgicr
failed to make good contact when
it was needed.
The first half ended with Exctcr
down 2-1. Centennials played a
rather lack -lustre performance,
sometimes a little more concerned
than they should have been over
lopsided calls by the referee.
Exeter opened scoring with Joe
Martens moving the hall up 0111 of
. his own cnd and feeding his forward
line with a well placed pass. John
VanEsbrocek broke in alone and
fired the ball into the net.
Wallacctown, with a disputed call,
was awarded a penalty shot, the first
of two, to tic the score.
Before the cnd of the first half,
Wallacctown was able to pull Exet-
er's hack line out of position and
pati) the hall past a sprawling Craig
\Vinbow.
After reviewing their effort in the
first half, Centennials came out
strong in the second half and put
pressure. on Wallacctown. Centre
halfback Joe Martens sent several
halls through, setting up some good
chances at the net. One drive result -
cd in a penalty shot. This was'tak-
cn by Dale Rcgicr, who put the -hall
away high to the goalie's right.
A funny bounce off tit,: arnT of a
defender restiltcd in Wall;tcctown's

which gave them a 3-2 lead. With
penalty shots uncommon, it was
.odd to sec three in one game.

toll late in the .sccond hall. Exctc_r
was unable to recover the lead.
Exeter travels to Chatham for a 5
