IRVIN RADER Dashwood Seniors held their picnic at the communi- ty centre Monday, June 20 with 45 enjoying a delicious supper. Mrs. CindyKeller and Mrs. Mervyn Tieman won prizes for marked cups. Mrs. Greta Schade won for a mark- ed chair. President, Mrs. Eben Weigand conducted a business meeting. A Mornent of Silence was held for Reinhold Miller and Mrs. Ray Stephen, a sister of Mrs. Oscar Pfaff. Mrs. Weigand read a poem, "On the other side of death." An invitation frons the MacKay Centre club was read where firs. Lawrence Hamilton and ex- ecutive member of U.S.C.O. was to be the guest speaker. Mrs. Margaret Carroll's group was in charge of the program. She gave a well prepared article "The Senior Citizen, a Member of Today's Society." Bingo followed with many winning prizes. Mrs. Luella Tieman has returned home from Univer- sity Hospital, London follow- ing surgery. Mrs. Hilda Rader has returned home from South Huron Hospital. Mrs. Everett Haist and Mrs. Beulah Desjardine are pa- tients in South Huron Hospital. Gertie and Sherrie Stade returned home last Thursday. They spent a few days with Bert Molzan and family following the funeral of her sister, Theresa. From the Molzans, they spent a few days with Eleanore and Clarence Millera sister of Gertie who also live in Alber- la. it was very dry in Alberta. Mrs. Mildred Kellerman has returned home following a three week visit to Scotland. It was an excellent trip. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Love ac- companied Mr. and Mrs. Doug Gill of Exeter to Sarnia Monday where they visited with Rev. Mervyn Love who is recovering quite nicely from surgery in St. Joseph's hospital. They. had supper with the Clare Love family in Sarnia. Mrs. Laura Daters and Mr. and Mrs. Ross Love are delighted to announce the ar- rival of two new great, great, grandchildren. After the service Rev. and Mrs. Moore were called for- ward and an address was read by Anna Eagleson after which a gift of money, on behalf of the congregation. was presented to them by Stuart Bullock. Sister Shizuko who has taught in the school for twelve years is go- ing to London to teach in September. it was a pleasure for me to have taught in the same school as she for seven of those years. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Gibson visited on Saturday in London with their son Terry. Terry has accepted a position on staff with the Autistic unit at the Children's Psychiatric Research Institute. Mrs. Pearl Morley of Chateau Gardens, Parkhill spent a day recently with Mr. and Mrs. Leo Gibson and celebrated her 83rd birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Rader visited with Mr. and Mrs. Wellwood Gill, Craigweil Gardens. Ailsa Craig, last week. HUGH MORENZ More than 40 members of the "Schendel" family held a picnic a week ago Sunday at the home of Ervin and Hedy Devine. The late Leo and Elsie Schendel resided and farmed on the 14th concession of Stephen, south of Blackbush school. In attendance were (Leona ) Mrs. W. H. Koppesser, her family and grandchildren, (Charlotte) Mrs. Ross Weber and family, (Sylvia) Mrs. Harry Huehnergard and family, all of Waterloo and Kitchener area. Also atten- ding were Hedv's family, the Hendrick's of Crediton, and the Vandeworp family of Dashwood, also Ervin's mother, Mrs. Susie Devine, of Grand Bend. The family gathered for a noon meal, with sports and games in the afternoon. It was also a time to say good- . bye to Leona's daughter Lynn, her husband and daughter, who leave shortly to spend one year each in Israel and Germany. Sports news Pee wee baseball - June 20 game.
