enjoy outdoor sports. events
St. Boniface School held its
annual field day on June 8.
The day was warm and sun-
ny, in sharp contrast to the
many preceding cold, wet
days. Principal Gaeten Blan-
chette, with phenomenal
prescience, had set the date a
year earlier.
The entire 162 -member stu-
dent body participated,
though the 25 kindergarten
children limited themselves
to two events.
All those placing first in the
events,and some who came se-
cond, will compete in a Huron
Country meet in Goderich on
June 22 with the other ten
schools in the separate school
system.
As the school was par-
ticipating for the fourth year
in the Royal, Bank's Junior
Olympic program, Cathy
Cade from the Exeter branch
was on hand to pin on red,
blue and white ribbons, and
ensure that each athlete
received a Junior Olympic
crest.
(The Junior Olympic pro-
gram is available to all
schools, church groups and
other organizations who wish
to take part. Applications are
available at Royal Bank'
branches.)
Winners reported to Cathy
and volunteer helper Gladys
Talbot to have their names
recorded and receive their
ribbons "Me" seemed to be
the overall champ. Invariably

While the majority of
students in grades six, seven
and eight from Zurich Public
School were competing at the
track and field day in Exeter,
five grade seven and eight
students, assisted by some
grade sixers, stayed behind to
organize a playday for those
who remained at the school.

students from kindergarten to
grade five had a wonderful

What is so rare as a day in
June? Everyone should agree
with this statement, especial-
ly after the beautiful weekend
we have had and after a
series of poor ones we have
experienced.
