Public Health Association and
organized by county health
educator Sheryl Gilbert, drew
large crowds of interested
people to see displays of
health unit services and com-
munity agencies such as the
Lung Association, the Heart
Foundation, the Cancer Socie-
ty, the Multiple Sclerosis
Society, Day Care Centre for
the Homebound, the VON, the
OPP and many, many more.
Films on a variety of
health-related topics were
shown throughout the day,
students from Usborne Cen-
tral School put on a
demonstration of "jumping
rope for heart", and the On-
tario Street United Church
ladies served refreshments in
an adjoining tea room
throughout the day.
Huron County MOH Dr.
H.R. Cieslar. MPP Jack Rid-
dell and Huron Board of
Health Chairman Thomas
Cronin were on hand to
declare the fair officially
open. (MPP Murray Elston
was detained in Toronto on of-
ficial business and could not
attend.)
"Individuals can have a
great impact on their own
health", Dr. Cieslar remark-
ed, adding that smoking is the
biggest factor in preventable
disease. He listed the leading
causes of adult deaths in
descending order as heart at-
tacks, lung diseases, strokes,
cancer and accidents.
Dr. Cieslar said the present
emphasis is on the prevention
of relatively new diseases,
most of which are related to
individual choices. Occasions
like an open house -health fair
make society more aware of
the importance of good nutri-
tion, (achieved very simply
by following Canada's food
rules and reducing the
amount of animal fat in the
diet while increasing con-
suirmption of fresh fruits and

Principals and teachers in
the Huron -Perth Separate
School system will be shuffl-
ed around at the end of this
school year.
The transfers were approv-
ed at the Huron -Perth
Separate School Board's May
9 meeting as was the closing
of two classrooms, one at Im-
maculate Conception in Strat-
ford and the other at St.
Boniface in Zurich.
The principals to be
transferred are Larry Cook of
St. Patrick's in Dublin who
will be moving to St.
Michael's in Stratford; Im-
maculate Conception prin-
cipal Michael Dewan who is

The separate school board
had also given consideration
to twinning two Stratford
schools, St. Ambrose and St.
Joseph's. Instead, a
classroom may be closed at
St. Joseph's. If twinning had
taken place, one principal
would have served the two
schools.
There will be some changes
at the two schools that are
having classrooms closed.
Bette Bedard of St. Boniface
will be transferred to Ecole
Ste. Marie and Marg
Bossence of Immaculate Con-
ception will be transferred to
St. Aloysius in Stratfu•-d.
Neither teacher will be
replaced at their present
schools.

The May meeting of the
Woodham UCW was held in
the Church basement with 21
rnemhers present.
Mrs. Don Brine led in the
Worship Service which open-
ed with quiet music followed
by the Call to Worship "A
Mother's Love". The scrip-
ture was given by Mrs.
Gerald Brintnell.
Mrs. Lloyd Jaques read a
poem "Mother". A reading
"Origin of Mother's Day" was
given by Mrs. Don Brine.
Mrs. Lloyd Cowdrey favoured
with a lovely solo "Mother of
Mine" accompanied by Mrs.
Glenn Copeland on the piano.
A story "The Best Advice I
Ever Had" was given by Mrs.
Don Brine. A film strip "Peo-
ple of the Silver Sea" was en-
joyed by all. Mrs. Oliver
Girls mark
achievement

Ilurondale Elimville and
Grand Bend 4-11 girls joined
with the Crediton 4-11 clubs
Monday evening at Stephen
Central School for achieve-
ment night. The girls have
just completed the club
"Heritage Ontario".
Those girls receiving Coun-
ty Honours from the Crediton
area were: Suzanne Fink-
beiner, Caroline Conlin, Rose
Morrissey and Lisa Parsons.
Skits and exhibits were well
presented by each club.
Next fall the course will be
"Look Great, Feeling Great"
with a quilting course plann-
ed for 1984.
United Church
While Rev. Brian Elder and
lay representative Leila Fink-
beiner attended the United
Church Conference in
Woodstock, Jerry Vander-
worp took the Sunday service.
The 132 anniversary service
will be held this year on Sun-
day, May 22 with the Rev.
Ray Lindsay, Minister of the
Parkhill and Lieury con-
gregations, sharing in the ser-
vice of worship. The service
will be held at 10 a.m. with a
time of fellowship and a pot
luck lunch al 12 noon.
Don't forget Crediton Sum-
merfes,, August 19, 20 and 21
classrooms. However it will
not mean that triple grade
classes will be in either
school.
Other teachers to be
transferred are:
- George Van Slyck of St.
Michael's in Stratford will be
going to Holy Name of Mary
in St. Marys;
- Percy Lauwaert of St.
Aloysius will be moving to St.
Michael's;
- Doreen Nogalo, a half-
time kindergarten teacher at
St Patrick's Dublin will move
to half-time Kindergarten
teacher at St. Joseph's in
Clinton;
- Helen Van Bake!, a half-
time principal's relief at St.
Joseph's in Clinton will
become a kindergarten
teacher at St. Patrick's
Dublin;
- Margaret Rowland of St.
Patrick's, Dublin will move to
St. Columban;
- Joan Murray of St. Colum -
ban will move to St. Patrick's,
Dublin;
- Loretta Ayotte of Ecole
Ste. Marie will be moving to
St. Mary's in Goderich;
- Karen Cleary of St. Mary's
in Goderich will become an
itinerant French teacher for
the Goderich school and St.
Joseph's in Clinton;
- Yaga McInnes, the
itinerant French teacher at
St. Joseph's in Clinton and in
St. Columban will switch to
itinerant French teacher at
St. Patrick's in Dublin and in
St. Columban;
- Rita Lawaert, itinerant
French teacher for all five
Stratford separate schools
and St. Patrick's in Dublin
will drop St. Patrick's;
- Marianne Hogan, a part-
time teacher at Sacred Heart,
Wingham and in Kingsbridge
will only be part-time in
Kingsbridge.
In other business, the board

received.
Mrs. Glenn Copeland open-
ed the business part of the
meeting with a reading "Hap-
py Ifornes". An invitation was
received to meet with Elim-
ville UCW Wednesday, May
25 at 8 p.m.
It was decided to cater to
the Optimist banquet June 13
and mother and daughter
banquet June 15.
All were reminded of the
chicken barbeque Wednes-
day, June 1.

taken up residence at the
