Centre at Lucan United Church. Several family groups were present, and enjoyed an even- ing of -sharing on the theme "Who do We Appreciate?" Barb Bannerman led in the opening session during which family groups interviewed one another to discover some special facts about each member of the family. The in- formation was used to design a heart -shaped appreciation photo. Linda Froats led the parents in their Parent -Talk session as they shared and searched Scripture to' discover ways of com- municating appreciation to family members. The children, during their own session expressed their feel- ings of appreciation through art *•ork. The whole group gathered for a closing hymn and prayer, then visited•together over goodies provided by Bradys and Bannerman. The final session of the series is scheduled for this coming'Pri- day, May 6 at 7 p.m. All church families are invited. Sunday morning, the ser- vice at Luean United Church was withdrawn so that members could attend the 1181h Anniversary service of its sister Church. Clandeboye United. Upcoming events — Senior choir meets Wednesday at 7:30 for regular practice and junior choir Thursday at 6:30. Also on Thursday is the in- terdenominational Prayer and Share Fellowship which continues its Bible Study discussion of 1 Peter chapter 2 'in the C.E. Wing of the Church at 9:45 a.m. Friday at 7 p.m. is the last in the present series of five Family Night programs. All church families are invited to be -present to enjoy an even- ing of fun and discussion of Christian family values. The Couples Club garage and bake sale is scheduled for 9.0.m. Saturday May 7 in Bob and Helen Patterson's garage ( Elm at Main). Donation of items for sale are welcomed. Call Bill Froats at 227-4879 for pickup of large articles. Cof- fee and donuts will be. available for shoppers! Pro- ceeds go towards the work of the Church. Helpers are need- ed at Patterson's Friday evening at 7 p.m. to help set up for the sale. Next Sunday (Mother's Day). the sacrament of Infant Baptism will be celebrated. Parents wishing to have their children baptized are asked to contact Mr. Brown right way. A special outreach Coffee Social will follow the service. All members and friends are invited to join in this time of fellowship with the Church Family. The U.C.W.'s hot beef din- ner at the arena takes place Thursday, May 12, 5 to 7 p.m. Tickets are available from any U.C.W. member at $5 for adults, and $2.50 for children. Preschoolers are admitted free. Ticket sellers are asked toreturn proceeds and any unused tickets by Sunday, May 8. Luca fr and district news Anglican Deanery rallies at Luean Holy Trinity The Anglican Church Women of Medway Deanery held a very successful spring rally at Holy Trinity Church, Lucan. Wednesday evening. Approximately 65 ladies from Brinsley, Ailsa Craig, Adelaide, Clandeboye, Lucan, London Churches of St. George's, St. Anne's, St. Aidans, St. Martin in the Fields and Transfiguration, gathered for fellowship, lear- ning and sharing. The planning committee. guest speaker, display con- veners, Rev. Pocock and his wife Patricia enjoyed a potluck supper prior to the rally. She spoke on women's role in life, the church, and the world,• giving a most in- teresting and enlightening ac- count of the struggles women have had and still have to gain recognition do the merit of their God-given gifts. In Christ, St. Paul says, we become "one" in Him, yet the world and the church refuse y to acknowledge this fully. Mollie Gregson, Pakistan Sponsor, brought a beautiful display of embroideries, which could be purchased. Jean McBride displayed ar- ticles that are greatly needed by our friends in Uganda and how to go about sending parcels. Various other displays told of the programs promoted and supported by Council of Anglican Church Women. An hour of good Christian fellowship along • with refreshments was enjoyed as the evening ended. The collec- tion, after expenses, was presented to Jean McBride for project Uganda. Graduates from area Bible College Friday evening the annual graduation exercises for students of Christianview Bi- ble College were held at Lucan, Beyival Centre. Col- lege president Dr. G. H. Nuntt, D. Min., was in charge, with Mrs. Nunn being the pianist. Chairman of the Board of Governors. Rev: Walter Gam- ble, of Toronto. opened with prayer. Rev W. Emerson, of Kitchener. gave the invoca- tion. Those graduating with a Bachelor's degree spoke. From St. -John's N.B., Miss Marlene Brothers read Psalm 27. Fled Keating, from Halifax, N.S., read Thessalonians 5:24, before talking about God being faithful to Joseph. in perfor- ming Ilis word in Joseph's dreams. Secondly God rewarded Joseph's obedience. This reminds us to be faithful. Then Rev. %Vatter Ileac!, from Kitchener. as valedictorian. from llebrews 4:12. highlighted education and ap- plication. Education is impor- tant, but wisdom is knowledge applied. Another graduate from %%'infield Alta. was not able to be present. Mrs. Vida Bend. Leel by 1)r. Nunn, the Col- lege choir sang, Sweet Jesus, and Jesus is the Answer To- day. Miss Kathy ('cooker, from (;►-i•'n,..y, presented the College yearbook, giving an account of the work putting it together. She then presented the copy to Dr. and Mrs. Nunn. Miss Marlene Brothers beautifully sang It's My Desire. Superintendent of the Maritime conference. Dr. Dein 'Posh, gave the com- mencement address. Dr. Tosh is a graduate of Univer- sity of Guelph with a B.A. degree. He then graduated from University of Alberta with a Masters degree and Ph. D. Dr. Tosh said if he wanted to share anything, he could just read 2 Timothy, as Timothy was a young man starting out as a minister as several pf the students are. Ile said a student on receiv- ing his certificate can say he has now got an education, but what does he do then? Dr. Tosh stressed the most impor- tant reason for going to Bible School is for one's own benefit and training on how to apply the sound doctrine learned. Second reason is to teach yourself how to teach and lead others. Third is a student comes to Bible College to learn how to minister. Dr. Tosh exhorted the students to use the tools they were given at Bible College. Dr. Nunn awarded the graduating students with their diplomas. Post office sponsors Cub wins in poster contest Lucan Cub Nei -Froats has been declared one of 12 'regional winners in Ontario and 43 across Canada in a poster contest sponsored by Canada Post. Neil's poster, drawn with felt markers, depicts Lord Baden-Powell, founder of the scouting movement, and the symbol of scouting's 73th an- niversary being celebrated this year. The poster will be.anrong those on display at this year's 15th world jamboree in Alberta. The competition asked Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Venturers to design a poster on the theme "what scouting means to me." The top poster, a camping scene in the mountains at sunset drawn by an Edmundston. Anglicans The order of service at- Ho- ly Trinity Church, on the Feast Day of St. Philip and James, was the Traditional Eucharist. Greeters were Eva and Art McLean. Readers of the lesson were Norah Elson and Loretta Dickson. Rev. Bruce Pocock based his message on Ephesians 4:7-8, 11-16. He urged all to read and study this passage. Paul is pleading with the church at Ephesus for unity by using the gifts given them to build up the body of Christ (the church ►. May 15, there will be a com- bined service of St. James, Clandeboye and Holy Trinity at 10:00 a.m. in Lucan, with Rev. John Hofland in charge of service for the day. May 29 is Confirmation with Rt. Rev. David Ragg, Diocesan, at 9:30 a.m. at Ho- ly Trinity. Please note time changes for these two services. N.B., Scout will be used in a postage stamp to be issued July 6. Neil is to receive a cer- tificate from Canada Post for his entry. Scouting is a family affair for eight-year-old Neil. His father, Dale, is president of the Scouts' Huron di6trie-t while his mother, Linda, is a leader in a Beaver colony to which brother Jamie belongs.
