Mr. and Mrs. Bill Snow
Celebrate 40th anniversary
Sy MRS. WILLIAM ROHDE•

niversary party was held at
Elimville Hall on Saturday
evening for Mr. and Mrs.
William Snow. The evening
was planned by their family.

and Reg ltodgert read an ad-
dress which was prepared by

unable to be there. Mr. and
Mrs. Snow were presented
with a clock which was
engraved. It was given by
their old neighbours and
friends. They were also
presented with a plate and a
barometer and thermometer
.as well as a number of cards.

delicious lunch was partaken
of.

his fiance of Calgary attend-
ed the gathering much to the
surprise of Bill's parents.
Church service
The regular church service
was held on Sunday with Rev.
Robert .Matheson in charge.
The children's story was ern
titled "It Takes A Shepherd's
Crook".
The sermon was "entitled
"Chaperone Shpeherd or
Short -Cut?" Rev. Matheson
said, when iv think of Christ
as a Shepherd to His people
we tend to romanticize as to
what the -duties of a shepherd
are. is he someone who
stands around whose mere
presence is supposed, to mean
no trouble will develop? Is the
shepherd who spoon-feeds his
flock to such an extent we, as
the sheep, need much energy
in Christian living?
In the .case of Christ the
path we are_called to follow is
a difficult one. Jesus tells us
He will assist us in our mis-
sion but never does he say He.
will perform our duties for us.
The Shepherd. Christ. calls us
or actually challenges us to
new experiences and new
duties — new -growth for the
sake of His Kingdom in the
world. -
