games Thursday in Stratford.

however. tvere unable to beat
the skills of Perth County. as
both Huron juniors and
seniors went down to defeat.
Rob Tait and Scott Lovie
,helped to lead Ituron's com-
eback but Perth maintained
their superiority 58-55. Tait
found the pace a lot faster
than normal games. Scott
Lovie felt "It was a goon Lear-
ning experience to play with
all those guys." This .ex-
perience will be used to South
Huron's advantage in the
1983-81 season.
Atter leading by 22 points at
the half the Huron seniors
tailed to stop the Perth drive
which brought the game to a
72-72 tie to force a 3 minute
overtime. Kevin Parsons had
fouled out in the last quarter.
leaving John Mol as the only
Panther in the overtime.
Huron seemed to have given
up and fell 81-76 to the quick
Perth team.
Terry O'Rourke who coach-
ed the senior team with Jirn
Johnson of Seaforth kept the
team working together. Kevin
Parsons -inspired playing and
14 crucial points brought
Huron out of several slumps.
Both Parsons and McAllister
were perhaps overeager as
they fouled out just as Perth
was gaining its first lead.
McAllister's passing hit the
mark often as his
ability to be on top of the play
al all limes worked well for
Huron. McAllister hid five
points in the all-star game.
John Mol seemed to play
better when one of the other
two Panthers as on the floor
with him. Mol's 16 points were
needed by Huron was was his
height for under the boards.
This experience of playing
with other good players will
help•Mol develop his play for
next season.
The play of the three senior
all stars was so outstanding
that all were chosen to play on
Ihe- Huron -Perth regional
team. McAllister, Parsons
and Mol will play with the
best of Huron -Perth against
the best of other regions. The
team has practised this week
to prepare for this weekend's
Burger King Classic in Lon-
don. Friday night Huron -
Perth plays Windsor and
meet Sarnia on Saturday.
O'Rourke was offered the
coaching position for the
regional team but declined
because of his involvement in
the women's junior 'develop-
ment program. This is • a
regional team which several
South Huron girls plan to try
out for. Johnson of Seaforth
will'coach the boys regional
team.

APRIL 9
Exeter minor baseball is
preparing for another season
and this year plans to further
add to its program, a hardball
T -ball league for children
eight years and under.
This league would involve
teams from Dashwood and
Seaforth as well as Exeter
and would prov ide the
necessary development of
skills required to advance to
the tyke program.
11arc11mil'l'-ball is very well
organized in the London
district and provides children
with the means to acquire
throwing, fielding and hitting
experie. c without thy fear of
facing a pilcher. The smaller
ball allows for better grip and
,control than the peewee
softball.
The Exeter team is being
organized by Tont Mc('ann
and Harry Stuart. •
Exeter teams will also be
participating in the W.O.A.A.
league in categories from
tyke through midget as well
as senior and junior teams.
Registration will be held
Saturday, April 9 from 9 a.m.
to 12 noon at the Rec ('entre.
licence since January 1, 1968
and want one, you'll have to
pass Ontario's hunting licence
examination - even if you
have a hunting licence from
another province or country.
A resident who has .had a
hunting licence or a hunter•
safety certificate issued in
any other jurisdiction after
January 1, 1968, was born,
after December 31, 1954, and
fails the examination, must
complete the Ontario safety
training course, if not
previously taken, before
reapplying.
These amendments to the
Ontario hunting regulations -
effective July 1, 1983 - comple-
ment the ministry's hunter
education program which
aims to upgradeand improve,
the knowledge and skills of
Ontario's hunters.
"What we're trying todo, of
course, is to r9fluce the
number of liwitidg aceidentS
- and if statistics are any in-
dication, we're succeeding,"
Natural Resources Minister
Alan Pope said. "In 1961, 36
hunters were killed and 118
were injured as a result of
careless hunting - 20 years
later, three were killed and 34
were injured."
The success of the hunter
education program - which
began in 1957 - has been large-
ly due to the dedicAtion of
voluntary hunter education
instructors who conduct the
training courses. Certified by
the ministry, the instructors
many of them members of
the Ontario Federation of
Anglers and Hunters - have
already trained more than
500,000 prospective hunters.
