Pinery Park_ opens
Pinery and Rondeau pro-
vincial parks opened for the
1983 camping season on Fri-
day. The season will extend to
November 27 for Pinery and
October 31 for Rondeau.
Pinery, in the northern part
of Lambton County, received
386,414 visitors in 1982.
Rondeau, south of Chatham
on Lake Erie, welcomed
168,027 visitors.
Pinery will accept
telephone reservations for'
campsites beginning April 5
for the period of operation
after May 13. Rondeau sites
may be reserved on May 13
for the period after June 1.
Camping fees remain the
same at $6.50 per night for
regular campsites and $8.00
per night for those with elec-
tricity. The day use fee is
$2.50 per car.
The fee schedule may be
adjusted after this spring's
provincial budget is
announced.

Friday evening the Soul
Survivors put on the drama
entitled 'The Denial'. A
church service was conducted
by Nancy Hamilton assisted
by Ron Lathy. Julie Hendrick
played the piano.
A duet was sung by Julie
Hendrick and Heather
Browning.
Players in the drama were:
soldiers, Jeff Slaght, Robbie
Finkbeiner and Mike
Lightfoot. Apostle John, Steve
Lightfoot, Apost le Peter, Jerry
Lamport. Women, Joanne
Slaght, Rhoda Mason and
Leanne Stewart.
The play was presented
again Saturday at the Youth
for Christ Rally in Brucefield.
Faster Sunday
Easter lilies decorated the
dias for the service conducted
by Rev. Brian Elder. The
senior choir sang the anthem
"All Hail the Power of Jesus
Name" in four part harmony.
The Benevolent offering
was,taken up by Jeff Slaght,
Robbie Finkbeiner, Joanne
Slaght and Ruth Martin. This
offering is used for the pur-
chase of Bibles presented to
babies on their dedication,
the confirmation class and on
the passing of a member of
the congregation or a friend.
The junior choir under the
direction of Don Finkbeiner
and Joyce Preszcator playing
the piano, sang "Easter
Hymn".
Rev Elder's sermon was en-
titled "The Living Christ".
"He Lives" was the key to the
service. •
The Sacrament of Holy
Communion was celebrated
following the sermon.
In place of the regular
U.C.W. meeting the ladies are
invited to Centralia U.C.W.
meeting April 7 at 8 p.m.
Ladies are asked to meet at
the Church at 7:30 for rides to
Centralia.
Womens Institute
The Crediton Women's In-
stitute met during March
break for a family night. Sup-
per was served pot luck style
to about 60 people.
While the business was con-
ducted upstairs a fish pond
was enjoyed downstairs by
the youngsters.
Tfie meeting was chaired
by Joan Hodgins, convener
for Education and Cultural
Affairs. A sing song opened
the fun time. Karen Caldwell,
Blyth led the singing.
A clown from Country
Flowers arrived and gave
each child a balloon.
Scott Crawford, played
selections on his guitar. ,Jean
Crawford read the motto
"Just when you think you are
making both ends meet so-
meone moves the end."
Bob and Marg Mason show-
ed slides from the Perth area
of Australia.

Granton seniors discuss
many tour opportunities

Granton
The Happy Gang met at the
United Church Wednesday.
Mrs. James Kerr presided
and opened the meeting with
two readings "Why Worry"
and "Privacy". $25 was voted
to the Bunny Bundle and
money to the church for the
heat.
Several bus tours were
discussed but the decision
was left till next meeting. The
rest of the afternoon was
spent enjoying euchre.
Lunch was served by
Dorothy Pecko and Edna
Wallis. Members with bir-
thdays in March were
Margery Morley, Mary
Bowman, Olive Gowan and
Clare Dunlop.
Church news
At St. Thomas Anglican
Church the Rev. Peter Der-
rick, rector. conducted the
Maunday Thursday service
on Thursday evening. This
service commemorates the
night of the Last Supper and
is the start of Holy Week.
The Old Testament reading
was read by Betty Ann
Herbert.
During this service the
ceremony of "the stripping of
the altar" was performed.

The Rev.Peter Derrick was
in charge of the Easter Sun-
day Service at 11 a.m. and the
celebrant of Holy Communion
assisted by his father, the
Rev. Board from Oakville.
The scripture was read by
John Herbert and Kenny
Beatson.
The Rev. Derrick preached
his sermon on the •Easter
gospel. The church was
decorated with lilies and an
Easter garden.
At the United Church there
was a Good Friday service
when a one act play "The
Crucifixion" was presented,
followed by the ceremony of
Holy Communion performed

was so well attended that

ducted the Easier Sunday'
Service and entitled his ser-
mon "The Emotions of
Easter.
The ladies would like to.'
thank everyone for their help
and participation in the
euchre:; and look forward to
seeing them next year.
Mrs. Zina Martin was
notified of the death of her
brother Richard Siedell. Mr.
Siedall was in his 87th year
and was buried Monday from
theToyton Funeral Home in
Walworth, Wisconsin.
