Christmas Place won the
draw for free membership in
the Grand Bend and Area
Chamber of Commerce at the
monthly meeting held in the
village last week. The draw
was made by Libby Davis of
Baskin Robbins.
Joyce Morden (Birch Bark
Trailer Park) reported on a
tourism convention she at-
tended in Michigan.
There was a discussion on
providing better street signs
in the village.
Lists allocating jobs for
Sandcastle Days were
distributed and the stucture of
prizes was changed by Sand-
castle organizer Laurie Man-
nell at the suggestion of
Chamber members.

hall rental
Grand Bend Recreation
Committee decided to cover
costs of rental of the Anglican
Church hall for the use of
seniors during the coming
year. They have been
meeting for recreational ac-
tivity at the hall on Wednes-
day afternoons.
Ila Kayes, a member of the
committee, commented that
since the hall was filled for
the Wednesday meetings that
the proposed space in the new
Town Hall location would not
be large enough for the
seniors.
There was discussion about
a major recreation fund-
• raising campaign. A lottery
had been suggested at the last
meeting.
Fire hits
local home
A fire causing about $12,000
damage to the summer home
of R. A. Culbert, London,
situated just behind the
Grand Bend Medical Centre
was extinguished by Grand
Bend firemen last Monday
night.
It took about two hours to
stop the smouldering.
Firemen were called by
neighbour Bill Sturdevant at
about 7 p.m. ,

electric heater. The fire went

Passion Sunday, the Sun-

yesterday. At St. John's the
