Shipka euchre has 11 tables

At the euchre party held
Wednesday evening at the
Community Centre here, the
winners were: high lady,
Mrs. Aileen Ravelle, Grand
Bend; low lady, Mrs. Eileen
Higgins, Grand Bend; high
man, Lloyd Durr, Parkhill;
low man, Lorne Fenner,
Shipka; most lone hands,
Allen Pfaff, Exeter.
There were 11 tables in
play. It was announced
another euchre will be held in
two weeks on April 6th.
The south group was in
charge of lunch refreshments.

Congratulations to Donald
and Ann Russell on the birth
of a baby girl last week.
Kevin and Dwight Beierling
spent March break holidays
with their grandparents
Howard and Joyce Adkins of
Zurich area.
Christopher and Melissa
Plein, of Elmira, holidayed
here last week with their
grandparents, Ferman and
Leota Snyder.
Visitors on the weekend
with John and Beverley
Keller, Sherri -Lynn and
Stephen, were Bev's sister
and family, Barbara and
Gerald Higdon and Scotty,
and the girl's mother, Mrs.
Roy Kirk, all of Moorefield.
At this gathering they
celebrated Stephen and Scot-
ty's birthday.
Funeral services were con-
ducted Friday morning at
Belle River for Michael
Schiebel, father of Roseanne
Russel. Tom, Roseanne,
Jackie and Jenny Russell,
were former residents of this
area. Members of the Russell
family, from this area, called
at the funeral home, Thurs-
day evening.
Angie Zielman returned
home Saturday after holiday-
ing with her sister and
brother-in-law Susie and
Wayne Robson, and nephew
Colin.
Mrs. Nola Evans, of
Lambeth, spent the weekend
here with her sister-in-law,
Mrs. Doris Sweitzer.
Sunday dinner guests with
Ferman and Leota Snyder
were a family gathering that
included, Suzanne and Otto
Plein, Christopher and
Melissa, of Elmira, Jim and
Judy Snyder, Esther and Ric
Storey, London, Keith and
Nancy Snyder, Greenway,
Edwin Snyder and friend.
Leota returned with
Suzanne and is spending this
week in Kitchener with her
sister, Kaletta Musselman
who is ill and has been recent-
ly in hospital.
Senior citizens
meet at Dashwood

Dashwood Seniors met
Monday with 34 in atten-
dance. The president, Mrs.
Eben Weigand presided and
read a poem "A Friend is a
Gift from God." .
Three get well and one bir-
thday cards were sent. The
Spring Rally of Zone 8 will be
held at the Legion Hall in Ex-
eter April 27. All wishing to at-
tend will meet at 9 a.m. at the
Community Centre.

Tickets were sold on an
Easter Bunny and a basket of
fruit. Winners were Mrs.
Edith Beierling and Mrs. Em-
ma Booemans.
Mrs. Lloyd Rader's group
was in charge of the program..
Mrs. Aldene Wolfe read "The
Touch of the Master's Hand"
and "The Unwanted Kitten."
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Love
played violin and piano duets.
Mrs.Love conducted a green
contest and led in a sing song.
Everett Haist gave advice
on physical fitness andhowto
reduce. He also demonstrated
a number of exercises to keep
fit. The rest of the afternoon
was spent playing shuf-
fleboard and other games.

Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Rader
were house guests with Mr.
and Mrs. Paul Rader, Ben
and Robin, London several
days last week.
Friedsburg Committee an-
nounced the third meeting
will be held April 4 at 7:30
p.m. at the firehall. Any sug-
gestions or volunteers will be
welcome.
• Mrs. Ray Rader is a patient
in University Hospital where
she had surgery.
Miss Judith Mellecke, Ann
Arbor, Michigan is vacation-
ing with Rev. and Mrs. M.
Mellecke and family.
Pastor of Zion Lutheran
Church Rev. M. Mellecke was
in charge of the service at the
Bluewater Rest Home, Sun-
day afternoon.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Simpson,
Mississauga spent the
weekend with Mr. and Mrs.
Gerald Mason.

Jean Hodgins attended a
meeting of the Lucan-
Biddulph branch of the Cana-
dian Cancer Society on Thurs-
day evening at the home of
campaign chairman, Bruce
Maslen, of Lucan.
After questions and con-
cerns of the Team Captains,
arrangements were made for
the daffodil sales on Friday
and Saturday. During
refreshments, Bruce played a
tape of one of the guest
speakers at the Conference,
recently held in Toronto.

plies were given to the cap-
tains, all ready for their many
canvassers who will be call-
ing at your home between
April 4th and April 22nd.
There will be no bicycle
ride in Lucan-Granton area
this year, so please be

A new annual event is being
planned for Crediton this
year. Summer Fest 1983 will
be held August 19, 20 and 21.
Special activities are being
planned for this three day
event by a active committee.
Proceeds from this event
will be used for community
betterment.
Summer Fest pins will be
available shortly so watch for
them.
More information will be
released as plans are
finalized.

Ladies night
The Crediton and -District
Social Club held a ladies night
Monday evening. After the
business meeting a game of
progressive euchre was en-
joyed by all those attending.
Winners were, ladies high,
Lois Hodgins; low, Mary
Glavin, mens high, Wilmar
Wein. Low, Harold Fink-
beiner. Lone hands, Ken
Glavin.
The club's St. Patrick's
dance was a huge success.
Lots of green was visible as
the members danced to
Beechwood. Irish stew was
served up for lunch by Marg
and Ken Lowe and Mary and
Larry Cronyn,
Sympathy is extended to
the family of the late
Sylvester Wuerth who passed
away this past week.
The W.I. entertained at
Huronview for the resiaents
birthday party and serves
cupcakes. Music was provla-
ed by Maggie Clarke, Max
Ducharme, Lois and Glenn
Hodgins. Michelle Hodgins
sang and Anne Cottel gave a
reading. Elsie Henderson
played the piano.
