KELI.ER -- in loving memory of
Adolph Keller, a wonderful father
and grandfather who passed
away March 22, 1981.
Two years have pa• :ed since God
called you home,
And for your loved ones you left
behind,
It was so very very hard to bear
And to accept His will at that
time.
We knew in our hearts you wanted
to go,
We could see your su(feririg
laking its toll,
Our hearts said words we could
not say.
As each day you slipped farther
away.
Dear Dad we loved you so.
But knew we had to part
The love and memories you left
behind,
Will stay with us until we meet
again.
Deeply missed by Jake. Verda,
Eugene and grandchildren. 12c

God looked around his garden
And found an empty space.
ile then . looked down upon the
earth
And saw your tired face.
Ile put His arms around you
And lifted you to rest,
Owl's garden must be beautiful
For Ile only takes the fest.
God knew that you were
suffering,
He knew you were in pain,
He knew that you would never gel
well
in this world again.
So He closed your weary eyelids
And whispered, "Pea be thine."
it broke our hearts to lose you ,
But you did not go alone,
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home
Dearly loved and sadly missed
by all his children and grand-
children. 12c

Musser quits
cemetery post
Bill Musser, senior member
of the Exeter cemetery
board, has tendered his
resignation.
Council accepted the
resignation with regret, Mon-
day, and named former coun-
cil member, Bob Simpson, to
fill the vacancy.
Reeve Bill Mickle paid
tribute to Musser's work on
the board aswellas his other
volunteer duties with the town
over the years.
In presenting the board's
report, Councillor Morley
Hall indicated the Exeter
Legion and IOOF would like
to see town council become
more involved in the annual
decoration day ceremonies at
the cemetery in an effort to
encourage more residents to
participate and visit the site
on that day.
The two groups have been
sponsoring thedecoration day
for several years, paying the
cost of - a band and
advertising.
It was also noted that in
view of the unseasonal warm
wealhc,r in the first part of the
month, seasonal employees
may return to work earlier
than normal, but could be laid
off depending on weather
conditions.
Won't withhold
education taxes
The Town of Exeter won't
be withholding any portion of
the current levy to the Huron
board of education.
With some local ratepayers
7Trepayil.g the May instal-
ment of their taxes, the
finance committee this week
explained that it now appears
the full levy to the board can
be paid.
However, they added that
the situation will be studied
again in June to ascertain if
'the entire education share of
the collections has been made
and whether the full levy due
at that time will also be for-
warded to the board.
Last year, council moved to
withhold the portion of the
education levy represented in
delinquent property taxes.
This week, council also en-
dorsed the committee's
recommendation to accept
the proposal of the Canadian
imperial Bank of Commerce
to continue using that institu-
tion for banking services over
the next three years.

Board vetoes plan
for Goderich classes
The Huron County Board of
Education has turned down a
proposal to establish grade
seven and eight classes at
Victoria Public School in
' Goderich.
Arguments on both sides of
the issue were heard by the
Board at its March 14
meeting, but anticipated casts
dssociated with the addition
of grade seven" and eight to
Victoria was cited as the
main reason for turning the
proposal down.
A recommendation from
four parents on the ad hoc
committee looking into the
feasibility of having grade
seven and eight at Victoria
called for grade seven to start
at Victoria in September of
1983 and grade eight to start
at the same school in
September of 1984. The com-
mittee also recommended
there be no boundary changes
in Goderich and if any grade
seven or eight student wanted
to take advantage of the in-
strumental music program at
Robertson Memorial Public
School they be allowed to do
so.
James Kingsley, who spoke
for the parents on the com-
mittee, said to make no
changes to the situation
"doesn't satisfy the request of
parents". He was referring to
a request made by parents
whose children attend Vic-
toria school from
kindergarten to grade six and
then transfer to Robertson for
grades seven and eight. These
parents made a presentation
to the board in September of
last yearto have the feasibili-
ty of having grade seven and
eight classes at Victoria
investigated.
Speaking in favor of the
recommendation, Kingsley
acknowledged it would cost
about $4,000 per year to im-
plement the additional grades
and would effect about 100
students. He also noted that
the standard of education
would not increase or
decrease despite the addi-
tional costs.
Roy Straughan also gave a
presentation to the board in
favor of grade seven and
eight at Victoria, on behalf of
Rose Marie Boyce.
Trustee Joan Van Den
Broeck, once the recommen-
dation was turned down, sug:
gested that an informal
liaison program between the
two schools be monitored by
the board's education com-
mittee. She suggested there
be no competitive sports bet-
ween the two schools which
would reduce any existing
rivalry.
The board also heard the
other point of view, that of
leaving the grades as they
now are. Mary Ann Dempsey
outlined the advantages of the
rotary system, timetabling
difficulties at the two schools
and the reduction of enrol-
ment at Robertson and costs.
"The last concern is over
the feasibility. Robertson was
specifically designed for a
junior high. When it was built
the board had every right to
be proud that they were sup-
plying the best that money
could buy. It seems to be a
step backwards to move to a

posal from the Bank of Com-
merce was "the best overall

When asked for his opinion,
director of education John
Cochrane pointed out that
Robertson school was
originally planned by the
town of Goderich. He said he
isn't convinced that Victoria
school would be better or
worse off with the additional
grades, but because of the ad
ditional cost with no improve-
ment to. education he had to
speak against the proposal.
