This is a major change for the group since its start over five years ago. Hopefully readers ill mention this date change to other mothers who are in- terested in coming out to a LLL meeting. Last month a large gather- ing in Mitchell learned more about La Leche Legue and the criteria for becoming a leader. It was also an occa- sion to say goodbye to league mother Kathy McMahon, who isnowliving in Norwich. 1983 will see the ninth inter- national conference of the La Kansas City. Princess Grace of Monaco was the,, first celebrity to publicly support La Leche League and she generously gave of her time when breastfeeding was not a popular role to support. Her strong belief in the nur- turing role of breastfeeding and the importance of close family ties echoes the philosophy of La Leche League. Pooley Exeter Branch 167 Royal Canadian Legion held their regular meeting Monday with 35 members present. President Marion Frayne chaired the meeting. Linda Webber won. the mystery. prize. Permission was given to the Girl Guides sponsored by the Auxiliary to purchase a new. pole for their flag. A $25 dona- tion was made to the Exeter precision figure skating team. Past president Ann Ken- nedy and president Marion Frayne are representing the Auxiliary at the Heritage meetings. Plans are being made for Heritage Days July 22, 23 and 24. A penny sale will be held at the February meeting, pro- ceeds for Bunny Bundle. March will be the month to visit Westminster Hospital to play bingo with the veterans, taking along treats of apples - and bananas. Members will be notified of the exact date later. Valentine's Day is coming up so don't forget your Secret - Pal. President Frayne closed the meeting after which lunch was served by Kate Bierling and her group.- • PENTECOSTAL WOMEN January 27, the regular monthly meeting of the Women's Ministries of the Pentecostal Tabernacle was ' held at the home of Mrs. Ruth McLaren with 11 members present. The meeting was opened by singing' hymns. "Ile's everything to me" and "There's a new name written down in Glory", with Mrs. Jean Jolly presiding at the piano. Prayer was offered by Mrs. Ada Triebner. Roll call was answered with a scripture verse containing the word "New". Minutes of the last meeting were read by Mrs. Edith Millar who is substituting for Mrs. Shirley Prouty who is vacationing in Florida. Mrs. Mary Blanchard then gave the financial report. Mary also read a thank you 'A SKIRT FOR 1415 SISTER - St. Boniface student Max Hall' proudly displays a skirt he is making in the elec- tive sewing class at the school. • - Rebekahs declare month for education Officers of Pride of Huron Rebekah Lodge preformed the "Draping the Charter" ceremony Wednesday night in memory of one brother and one sister that had passed on as of late. - Noble Grand Sister Audrey Rowe presided at the evening meeting, assisted by Vice Grand Sister Barb Whiting, who reported from the visiting committee that Sister Helen Coates and Sister Ella Middleton were in hospital. JPNG Cheryl Edwards, reporting for the Humanitarian Committee, angounced that a euchre would be held Jan. 26. in the lodge hall at 8:00. Parkhill Rebekah Lodge will be invited to the Exeter lodge for the "Degree" of In- itiation, February 16. The month of February was declared "Education Month" by the Rebekah Assembly of note from Mrs. Jean Treibner and Mrs. Dorothy Prouty. A missionary reading was then given by Mrs. Mary Blan- chard on the life of Rev Ken- neth Gates of Hay River. As a special number Mrs. • Susanna Cann sang "He'll understand and say well done". Etiquette topic at Kirkton WI The January meeting of the Kirkton Womens Institute was held at the Kirkton- Woodham Community Cen- tre. Many items of business were dealt with. It was decided to cater to three banquets in March, also to buy items for the Wegg fami- ly. whose home was burnt. Mrs. John Rodd then presented the following girls, Laurie Simpson, Valerie Stephen, Betty Johnson and Cindy Taztar with a gift fol receiving their Provincial Honours. Absent were Pat Taziar and Terry Wilcox. The meeting was on Cultural Activities the theme being Etiquette. Mrs. Gordon Johnson introduced Jamie Westman of Anderson who entertained with classical vocal numbers. Education at University of Western Ontario. She spoke on Etiquette and manners and everyone en- joyed a quiz which she had prepared.
