C.G.I.T. news
Christine Currah was in
charge of the meeting on
January 12 at the United
Church.
Christine had as her topic
"I'm Somebody". She told
how God does not want us to
feel like toads, because if He
did He would have made us
toads. But He made us people,
the highest form of creation
and He wants every single
one of us to feel important.
Christine also read a story of
a teenage boy whose life was
football, but because of an ac-
cident he could never play
again. A discussion was held
on how something like this
could affect each of us and
how we have to remember to
thank God for our life, and if
He changes it; we have to ac-
cept our new life and continue
in it, because when one door
.closes, God opens a new_one
for us. '
In her talk Christine also
pointed out that nobody is a
useless hunk of trash --you're
somebody --"Cause God don't
make no junk"!
Church news
At Granton United Church
the Rev. Bruce Pierce con-
ducted the morning worship
and took his sermon from
John 14:15-26. This is where
Jesus refers to the Holy Spirit
as the "Comforter", using
Catherine Marshall's book
"The Helper" as a reference
the Minister said, "We have
only scratched the surface of
this relationship between
Jesus and the tioly Spirit, the
"Helper" and Holy Ghost.
Unless our minds and hearts
are open to everything Jesus
said, and if we want to get
nwre living out of our lives,
we must be obedient to God,
we need each other, but we
need Christ and His love
more.
The following message is
copied from the Church
bulletin: "In the Spirit things,
unlesshead knowledge
becomes heart knowledge, it
were better one had no
knowledge at all."
The first Scripture lesson
was read by Robert
Parkinson.
Two baskets of flowers
