UCW meeting
in Woodham

The January meeting of the
Woodham U.C.W. was held: on
January 11 with 20 members
and one visitor present.
Group four was in charge
with the Worship Service
opening with Quiet Music.
Mrs. Ellis Strahan gave the
Call to Worship. Scripture
Psalm 90 was given by Mrs.
George Levy followed by a
reading. Mrs. Ted Brine
favoured with a piano in-
strumental. A reading "Faith
for the New Year" was given
by Mrs. Ellis Strahan. Mrs.
Strahan closed this part of our
meeting with prayer.
Mrs. Oliver Baker introduc-
ed the study book for 1983
which is South Pacific. Also
,presented was M rs..Baker's
sister Miss Anna Beer of Mit-
chell who showed slides and
gave a very interesting com-
mentary on her trip to Tahiti
and Fiji. Miss Beer was
thanked by Mrs: Ellis Strahan
and presented with a gift.
Mrs. Glenn Copeland called
on Miss Janet Hartwick who

Toc Alpha which was held in
the Skyline Hotel in Toronto:
The theme was "Paths" and
Janet told of the lectures she
had attended, which she
enjoyed.
Mrs. Glenn Copeland con-
ducted the business part of
our meeting by opening with
a reading 'The Changing
Year'. An invitation • was
received to attend the World
Day of Prayer on March 4 at
Kirkton United Church.
Huron•Perth Presbyterial An-
nual Meeting is January 24 in
Seaforth.
It was decided to cater to a
banquet on February 17.
Reports . were given and
recommendations for 1983
were read and approved.
Mrs. Glenn Copeland closed --
with prayer followed by lunch
by the group in charge.

There were nine tablesin
play at the first euchre of this
season at the Community
Centre Wednesday night.
Winners were: ladies high,
Mrs. Allen Pfaff, Exeter;
ladies low, Mrs. Elzar Masse,
Zurich area; high man, Allen
Pfaff, Exeter; low man, Fred .
Gibson, Shipka; most lone
hand, Sheldon Wein, Exeter
area.
The north group was in
charge of lunch refreshments.
•It was announced another
euchre party will be held -in
two weeks on January.26.

Gerald and Mary Ellen
Zielman, and Debbie
Zielman, visited recently- in
Essex, with their sister and
family, Susie and Wayne Rob-
son and baby Colin.
Mrs. Ethel Fischer is a pa-
tient in St. Joseph's Hospital,
London.
Some local area folk have
left for holidays in Florida.
