They did however raise their allowance for mileage for the one or two trips they take every year. There were a few stormy moments during the meeting when the piece of land pur- chased by the village for the new fire hall came into the discussion. The village need- ed an extra ten feet which was inside PUC property and of- fered $1,000 for it. Ontario Hydro asked for an evalua- tion and the village refused to pay the extra cost involved. PUC officials finally agreed to send Ontario Hydro a map and a description of the land. The village agreed to pay surveyors' costs to replace a missing marker at the front of the lut. Bob Sharen, a member of the commission, representing council, said the village had possessory title of the land since the village had maintained it and the fence behind the PUC had been bunt in the wrong place. The fence was supposed to mark the boundary but was placed 10 feet inside PUC property. The PUC property was originally owned by the village and soldtothe commis- sion for one dollar.
