Dan stopped in Hensall for several hours in the summer while on his way across Canada in his wheel chair to raise money for handicapped athletes. Mr. and Mrs. William MacKinnon, Shawn and Laura of London spent Christmas with the former's mother Mrs. Janet MacKinnon. Mrs. William O'Brien, Todd and Stacey of Brigden, Mr. and Mcs. Gerald Flynn, Lori and Susan were New Year dinner guests with Mrs. Evelyn Flynn. .Mr. Charles Mickle return- ed to Hamilton after holiday- ing with his mother Mrs. Laird Mickle. Captain Ronald A. MacKin° non of Amherstview spent New Year's with his mother Mrs. Janet MacKinnon. Mrs. Alice Ferg spent the holiday with her sister and brother-in-law Mr. and Mrs. George Coulter at Listowel. Mrs. Laird Mickle, Charles Mickle, Mrs. FlorenceJoynt, and Mr. and Mrs. William Mickle, Exeter and their family attended a family gathering on Christmas Day at the former's daughter and son-in-law's home in Waterloo. All the members and their families were able to attend. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ellwood (former Hensall residents now of Ottawa) visited last week with friends and renewed old acquaintances. Mr. Wilfred Mousseau is a patient in South Huron Hospital, Exeter, where he is receiving treatment. Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Reaburn, Jamie and Benjamin return- ed to their home in Corona- tion, Alberta after holidaying with their parents Mr. and Mrs. Robert Reaburn and, family and Mr, and mrs.'Ar- thur Slade and Glen. Sgt. Doug Wein, R.C.M.P., visitors Mrs. Wein and David return- ed to their home in Ottawa after holidaying with their parents Mr. and Mrs. Harold Parker and Mrs. Lawrence Wein, Exeter. The Three Links Seniors will meet on January 11 at 2 p.m. in the local hall. Please note the time change to afternoon. Mrs. Edith Bell and Miss Pauline Bell returned home after holidaying at Orlando, Florida, Disney World, Busche Gardens, etc. Prizes for quilts Museum plans activities Having welcomed its one - Millionth visitor in 1992, the Lambton Heritage Museum, south of Grand Bend, is busi- ly planning for future events l'10 in the new year. Among those events, will be a program of quilting instruction and an ex- panded quilt competition. Instruction in hand quilting and machine quilting will be offered at the museum begin- ning in mid January. The popular show and sale of quilts is planned for July. Over $500 in prizes will be of- fered this year. The W.M.S. and Ladies' Group will meet on Monday, January 10 at 2::00 p.m. in the church. The annual meeting will be held on January 26 at 8:00 p.m. United Church Stewards of Time was the sermon topic for the first Sun- day of 1983 at the United Church on Sunday morning. His sermon was based on the scripture from Psalm 90 "So teach us to number our days that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom." Sarnia government, will pay for wages and materials for three extra employees to be hired for 35 weeks. Two persons will be employed by the heritage Museum to help develop more special projects. The third person will work at the Oil Museum in Oil Springs to develop working displays -for children. About 1,300 elementary school children participated in a special program during the Christmas week at the Lambton Museum. They were exposed to elements of nineteenth century pioneer Christmas. They dipped candles and made wooden decorations, strung popcorn for the Christmas tree and joined in carol -singing in the chapel. The program, called a "hands-on" program prov- ed successful enough to allow more such programs in both museums in the qoming year. Application forms for the quilting program and infor- mation about special events may be obtained by phoning the museum. The three-day weekend was created because it's impossi- ble to cram all the bad weather into two days.
