South Huron was defeated in
the semi-finals . of the
Marauder tournament:
After losing to St. Clair in
their opening game Tuesday,
where short yet quick Kevin

this week; beating Dorchester
3-2 on Wednesday and losing
by the same verdict to

against Dorchester when Bob

Mohawks get win

The Exeter Mohawks on the
strength of five point perfor-
mances from Dave Robinson,
Brad Taylor and Dave Bogart
handily defeated the Rostock
Roosters 14-4 in South Huron
intermediate hockey leage
play, Tuesday night.
The Mohawks with a 10
wins and two losses record
along with one tie will host the
league leading Hensall Sher -
woods at the South Huron Rec
Centre tonight, Thursday.
All scoring was confined to
the first two periods of the
game with the exception of
the fourth Rostock goal.
The game was only four
minutes old when Brad
Taylor notched the first Ex-
eter goal on a three-way effort
with Brian Mercer and Dave
Bogart.
Bogart was next to hit the
scoring column on passes_
from Brad Taylor and Barry
Baynham followed by Brian
Mercer with passing help
from Bogart and Taylor.
Doug Fletcher converted a
pass from Brad Daters to ac-
count -for the fourth Exeter
goal and Dave Robinson
followed with two successful
shots. Getting assists were

Brad Taylor.

Sherwoods win
over St. Marys
The Ilensall Sherwoods
scored a 6-2 victory over St.
Marys Tuesday night in South
Huron hockey league action
at the St. Marys arena.
All of the game scoring
came in the first two periods
of play as the Sherwoods led
2-1 after the first period and
increased their winning
margin in the second 20
minutes.
In the first period Jamie
Caldwell scored both Hensall
goals. The first came on a
pass from Ken Varley and
Gary Koehler provided the
assist on the second. Joe Pen-
nachetti was the lone St.
Marys marksman.
Ken Varley fired two suc-
cessful shots in the second
period for the Sherwoods and
Jamie Caldwell completed his
hat trick performance while
captain Dave Kinsman notch-
ed one goal.
Jamie Caldwell assisted on
two goals to increase his
game point total to five while
Kinsman, Varley and Allan
Taylor each helped set up one
score.
The final St. Marys goal
was chalked up by Dan
Graham.
The Sherwoods currently in
first place in the league stan-
dings with only one defeat to
date will be the South
Huron Rec Centre tonight,
Thursday to meet the Exeter
Mohawks. The Mohawks
have lost only two games.
John McAllister leading scor-
ing with 16 and 14 points
respectively. Mol highlighted
the games when the 6'4" cen-
tre dunked the ball.
The tournament continued
Wednesday as Exeter met the
host team. Parkhill had nar-
rowly defeated South Huron
earlier in the season but Ex-
eter demonstrated their, in
coach O'Rourke's words
"gradual improvement". The
Panthers walloped the
Marauders 53-36.
The score was equally im-
pressive against Montcalm of
London. John McAllister's
score was an impressive 21
points to make the final score
57-37 for South Huron.
Steve Merner injured his
foot itlrthis game and will be
uanble to play for several
weeks.
In their third game of the
day in a gruelling two-day
tournament, South Huron
again lost to St. Clair, by a
bigger margin in the final.
Many players felt they
could have beaten Sarnia but
O'Rourke was forced to
overplay his starting five and
perhaps exhaustion took its
toll. John Mol had 12 points in
this final game.
O'Rourke was pleased with
his team's showing at' the
Parkhill tournament and feels
they are steadily improving
as they moved into the
regular season.
After their pre -Christmas
loss to Mitchell the seniors
are eager to score a win in
Huron -Perth play. They will
have their chance as Strat-
ford Central comes to Exeter
Friday night at 8:00 p.m. and
O'Rourke "plans ..on
winning." '
• Last year's team was able
to . defeat Central, so
O'Rourke is quite confident of
this game's outcome. Exeter
will have to prepare for the
tougher opposition of Strat-
ford Northwestern as it
strives for a playoff and semi-
final spot.
South Huron's midget and
junior teams also host Strat-
ford Central teams, this Fri-
day night. Both gaes are at
6:30, the midgets play in the
school's old gym and the
. junior game is in the new
gymnasium.
