London minister speaks UC celebrates The 119th anniversary of the Lucan United Church Congregation was celebrated Sunday June 7, with Rev Wesley Oake of King Street United Church, London as guest speaker. Rev Oake read the lesson from 2 Chronicles 20:1-12 and speaking from the lesson told the congregation that the Church is in need of revival, needing its life rekindled, because when Christians have departed from the Bible, their faith subtly decays from lack of the Word of God. "Keep Your Eyes upon Jesus" quoted Mr. Oake, completing this beautiful verse. If we want our Church to be vibrant we must acknowledge our helplessness without prayer, and we must come to grips with the real need of prayer, having real love in our hearts. "If we have something to confess, if we have a chip on our shoulder what better day than the 119th anniversary, to get rid of it" said Rev Oake. "God is right here with us, closer than hand or foot but we must open our hearts to Him and He will guarantee our Faith." A piano prelude was played by Jane Holden, a pupil of the organist, Helen Stanley. Jane played "Two- part Invention", "Sonatina in 'D"' and "Dance on the Lawn", and did an excellent job. Members and friends were welcomed by Gordon and Bi11 Frosts. A "minute talk" was given by Wes Stanley for the Outreach Committee who reported that over 50 families have been visited in the last few months. The "hymning" will be held again at 11 a.m. on Sunday the 21, and the next Fellowship Hour will follow the service on July 5, both sponsored by this new committee. Upcoming in the U.C.
